Default Need Info

Hi,
I have 899/- corporate plan from Airtel on my black berry however am struggling to connect to internet via my laptop.
Do we need to have GPRS enabled in the connection in addition to Black Berry services? Will it charged me in addition?
Can some one clarify me back?
Thanks in Advance.

Hello Emmanuel,
After reading your above post, I wanted to clarify with you one thing, I am planning to purchase a BB 8900 for Airtel, I right now have Mobile Office Unlimited data plan (for which I am paying a very nominal fees of Rs200/- PM) for my current device, the question is, if I keep my current data Plan and also activate Airtel's Rs 250/- plan (in which it is pay as you use basis, which is very high, Rs0.15/- Per KB) OR Activate another plan which they have for emails (Rs300/- PM only email access), will I be able to connect net on the mobile with paying anything extra.

Vodafone doen't support this at all. You can subscribe for Mobile Connect service for Rs. 399/- with 500MB data free per month if, you required so.

better buy a data card with 1GB data transfer free and higher speed of Reliance or TATA.

Default Airtel on Blackberry 8900 as modem

I am able to connect using above settings, however when I say ipconfig /all
it seems that my PPP conection gets IP address and gateway but not DNS address.

That is why I cannot browse anything, Nor can I use other generic DNS addresses, since I cant even ping them.

AS Usual Airtel ppl. cannot help on this.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks in advance

Default Iam being charged for using those settings in my PC

Hi there..Iam using Blackberry Pearl 8120 handset and "Airtel" (prepaid) service provider..
Today I registered with Blackberry Internet Services... Unlimited Data Plan for Rs.899..on my blackberry and Data services has been activated.. fine....
But when I connect to PC with those settings... Iam being charged for 30 paise/50 KB... which shouldn't be because of my unlimited plan... ( May be I think BB Internet services or different from GPRS...so Iam being charged for GPRS.. correct me if I wrong....)....
Is there any other settings instead of "APN='airtelgprs" ( I think Iam being charged for that)
Is there any way to access internet on my PC without being charged...

Help would be appreciated....
Advanced Thanks...
Desparado............

Smile working well

i did everything well on my pc and BB device

here is how
in BB airtel without any BIS or BES plan only activated the GPRS acces
in BB mine 8820 in APN settings give airtelgprs.com

and in blackberry optiond and network there you turn off the data access

thats it in BB device

and in pc

dialing number *99#
user name and password leave blank
disabled LCP

thats all working well nice i have recharged with Airtel 98 scheme which is 100mb for a month and 2gb in between 20.00 to 00.00 hours for a month..

thanks for to you all..

Talking Finally Connected with Blackberry 8520!!

Thanks a lot Emmanuel & Mark to come up with excellent thread .

I tried for long hours to connect with Old version of Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.6 but I could not get any success. I was having issues in querying Soft Modem Finally I uninstalled the Old version, downloaded latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.0.1 from the parent site and you would be suprised that I got an inbuilt option in Desktop Manager to use Blackberry 8520 as an IP Modem!! I configured the modem settings to choose Bharti (Airtel) as my service provider, disabled LCP extensions. Also I enabled and APN settings on under Menu --> Options --> Advanced Options --> TCP/IP. I also mentioned the APN as airtelgprs.com. I tried connecting initially from Desktop Manager and I got connected.

Later on I changed Modem Speed by clicking on Dial-up Icon and General --> Selecting Modem --> Configure --> Selecting Max. speed as 921600 bps. This also worked and I was able to connect at a better speed than 115200 bps. Not sure whether this is just an assumption but my organization's home page opened up comparatively faster after changing the settings!!

Now With The New Desk Top Manager No Need To Do Anything
Just Get Your GPRS Activated
Chose Bharti (Airtel) India From The Dropdown Menu Of Connecting Settings
And Connect.

When I start connecting, it clears the section connecting. When it goes to authenticating, it gives an error message Error 734 : The PPP link control Protocol was terminated.
