Question

Any word on getting animated screensavers. I think that would be pretty cool, except for memory it would suck up.

I put this on my web server so I could download it to my BB:

http://www.3xmk.com/mrogers/blackber...er/m5-side.jpg

And whenever I click on the link I sent myself, it sits there for awhile and then gives me a 502 Bad Gateway error. I have no problem going to other sites. Using Cingular Browser. Any ideas?

mrogers, have you tried typing the address (http://www.3xmk.com/mrogers/blackber...er/m5-side.jpg) into your Web browser just as you would type a standard Web address? That should bring it up.

No, I actually still get the same error: HTTP Error 502: Bad Gateway. I can't fathom why this is happening. I had no trouble getting the wallpapers that you posted, David.

Anyone have any other ideas why I can't access my own JPG link? Anyone want to try sticking that picture on their server and see if I can get it? It may need some tweaking (lightening) yet but I can't be sure because I can't get in on my Berry.

It should be able to be viewed w/o any problems.

What's the software version of your bb?

PM or Send us the file and we will upload it for you. Or if you prefer, send the original and we can resize for you.

Well feel free to just right-click on that image on my web site and save it and put it on your server. Speaking of image sizes, though, I'm concerned about the image sizes on your web site. I downloaded 7 or 8 nice wallpapers, but when I applied them, each of them was too narrow! There was white space on the sides of the image, a good 5 to 10 pixels' worth.

Here's another image for the Blackberry standby screen. It's 240x160.

Edit: If you need a phone image that centers better on a 7230-size standby screen, you can find a 240x120 version at www.davidenglish.com/phone.jpg

1. Your file was uploaded. It's the wallpaper of the day for 3/24 and the direct address is http://www.blackberrywallpapers.com/images/m5side.jpg

We were able to pop it on w/o any problems on the 7520 and 7100t

2. Wallpapers being too narrow. Thanks for addressing that issue with use. It's the first we have had relating to the 7290. We are looking into testing that model. Thanks again.

BTW - keep us posted with the m5side picture!

I took the pic of Oregon from blackberrywallpapers.com and Photoshopped it up to 240 X 240 to fit my 7730. I'm impressed at how a background picture really makes the icons on the screen pop! Gives the screen a real 3-D look. All I did was add more sky to fill the void the original would have left. It's a fast and dirty job but adaquate for a background image. If anybody wants it you can grab it from my web page: http://homepage.mac.com/rseijas/.Pictures/oregon240.jpg

1. Using your blackberry's browser go to www.blackberrywallpapers.com or any location that might be hosting a picture. Use the Go TO function in your browserss menu to get to the site. Do Not Use Webviewer from Reqwireless because you will not have the option to save the image

2. After you select the category then select the picture you want by clicking on save. Saving will place the picture into your picture application.

3. From your picture application you will have the option to change your home screen image and on some blackberry's you will have the option to change your standy screen to the selected wallpaper.

4. If you do not have the picture application that means it's time to update the software on your blackberry.

Your new 7730 should be ready to go. Let us know how you do!

BTW - Rambo47, nice mod!!!!!

blackberrywallpapers--

Thanks for putting that m5 picture up, but something really strange is happening on my end it seems. No matter what I do to that image--in the latest example, I've made it 260x160 and at 100% JPG quality, which comes out to about 25KB--it downloads to the BlackBerry as a crappy looking, 3.6KB image that's too narrow for the screen. It's the wierdest thing. If I resize it, reupload it, and then refresh in my Cingular Browser, I see the proportions of the image change, but it never gets wide enough and the quality still degrades. So I made a .gif version of the m5 instead, and stuck in on my server and downloaded it--boom, no problem, the perfect size and it looks OK.

So that's very strange I'm having such problems with the JPG images on my Blackberry; even stranger is that it did work at least once before. I had no problems downloading David English's mountainSnow6.jpg. It is the right size, both file-wise and dimension-wise. Anyone have any idea how this is happening? It's not my server, I've put the image on three different servers and it doesn't matter. It looks fine in a normal PC desktop browser. Weird.
