Default Newest device software for 7130e

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on the most updated device software for a 7130e for Verizon. I checked this site out: vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry, but I'm not sure if that has the most recent version. It has 4.1 but it was updated 3-8-06.

This link -> http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...ry-device.html is a good place to start.

Actually... According to this list the latest 7130e OS is this one;

BlackBerry 7130e™ / Pkg:4.1.0.493, App:4.1.0.359, Plt:2.0.0.166 (Sprint)

I just noticed on the Bell Mobility website they have this version out;

Pkg:4.1.0.532, App:4.1.0.377, Plt:2.2.0.174

Looks like it's been added this week.

I have 4.1.0.318 loaded on my 7130e. I downloaded the latest update, and when it tries to install, it says the OS on my phone is more up to date than what I'm trying to load?! Any clue?

I've just been using BB for a few days now, so i'm very very fresh.

Cheers....matt

Downloaded and installed the update from Bell Mobility website. It adds a theme but not sure what else it does. Had to re-activate some programs and lost registration key on others. No change in BB Maps...GPS still not working. Also lost ability to view attachments via BIS. Not sure why?

I installed this last night onto my Telus 7130e (upgraded from Sprint's Pkg:4.1.0.493) didn't lose anything that I can tell so far - bluetooth desktop sync, themes etc all still work. No new themes here.

I usually do a hard reset once a week to keep things smooth but this one seems to run faster.

What I do notice is that some OS will require an extra keystroke when coming out of screensaver mode. ie. screen is off (but not keylocked) and you hit "2" the screen is turned back on but you're still at the home screen.

The Sprint OS was like how I just described, but this new Bell one is not - if the screen is off and you hit "2" you are right away dialing a number to call.

I like this way better, it feels faster.

Also, I get all my office messages as SMS and when I'm reading one I like to have 15-25 of them come up so I can scroll through them. In the previous Sprint OS this was slow and in the Bell one its noticeably faster. We'll see if it slows down over the next couple days.

Previous poster mentioned losing the ability to download attachments with BIS - I definitely did NOT lose that function.

I noticed now, when I'm using the earpiece and I put the phone back in the holster, it hangs up. Before it would only do that when I was not using an earpiece.

After I moved up to .377 I had a small problem receiving phone calls but that was fixed with a *228 (VZW) & a hard reset.
I also had to reenter my enterprise activation for my BES .
But it did delete all my locations out of bbweather, but that's not a big deal.

Also .377 has been patch for DST, so I now have the DST patch running and won't install, since it is being pushed from the BES...

Default Verizon 7130e Device OS

Does anyone know why Verizon is "behind the curve" when it comes to device OS versions?
They have released desktop manager version 4.2 which supports "media manager".
However; in order to use media manager, your device OS must also be at version 4.2; which is not available for any VZW BB device.
Doesn't make sense to me...

Why do you need media manger since none of the current vzw bb don't have sd cards to store stuff and the 7130e & 7250 are going to reach end of life in the next few months per vzw. The next vzw bb is the 8830 and should be 4.2.x since it has a sd slot, which is coming out soon...

I'm not in dire need of media manager (using a 7130e); but based on other postings, there are some enhancements to device OS 4.2 that work in conjunction with BES 4.x that I am unable to use or take advantage of. Just wondering why Verizon is so far behind (over a year) on this device OS.
My inquiries to VZW tech support about this were in vain; no one had a clue.

So... now you are qualified to be a VZW tech support team member. None of us have a clue what their MO is.

Can anyone point me to the directions to install the OS upgrade? For whatever reason, I cannot get the download to install.

Look in Rim Software forum and the top sticky...

Did you delete the vendor.xml in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader?
