Default Google Maps or Blackberry one

Please Login to Remove!

I just downloaded the google maps app for my new bb. I have always used it when I had my sony ericcson w800i. I checked out the one preinstalled on the phone and it seemed a bit slower. However, the interface seems to be alot nicer with the bb as it has the city/state inputs and remembers old addresses. Is there a better one out there? Which one do yall prefer??

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I have them both loaded on my 8700, and since there is no cost involved, I keep them both. I like the BB maps prob a little better, though.

See the link in the FAQ to my complete GPS review but note that I always recommend people keep Google at hand.

Very diff. See the screenshots of Google Maps on my GPS tips page. Berry 411 is really an advanced lookup program but the mapping isn't as sophisticated and no traffic to my knowledge.

One reason I like google over bbmaps is that google directions are much easier to follow.

For example, bbmaps only gives you street names of state roads, whereas google will give you rte numbers if they exist. Here in mass, street names along a rte will change every time you go into a new town and sometimes even within a town. This can be maddening especially since a lot of the time they don't put up street signs for well know routes.

There will always be a rte number sign, and they don't change as you follow them.

I just find google maps easier to use for a variety of reasons. If it supported gps, I'd never use bbmaps.

Google Maps is awesome! If only it had GPS capability. Anyway, if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. I won't leave home without it. I travel a lot and use it ALL the time. 99.9% of the time when I search for something, I find exactly what I was looking for. The maps are excellent, directions are excellent. Satelite views are cool, too!
