Default 8830 Red Light Won't Go Off

Please Login to Remove!

I have the BB 8830 - works great - except now the red light at the top stays on constantly. It's not flashing - just constantly on. I turned off the the status notification in options and it still won't go away. Anyone else encounter this or know what to do.

If you only had battery out a moment, do again and wait 30-60 seconds.

I have pulled it while the BB was powered on. And I have pulled it for over 60 seconds and it still comes back on.

And there are couple extra things installed - but they've been on there for weeks - the light issue just started.

It's on to John's question, then. Apps? Theme? Also, any shocks, vibration?

No dropping or anything that I am aware of. Everything else works - why would the light just be weird?

I always hate to recommend this and would rather you wait for JC to come back and advise, but may be time for you to reinstall OS. See http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/H...ng_Jl_Cmder%3F and http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/W...nnect_and_wipe.

Did you get the phone wet?

I repaired cell phones for 3 years and every persistent LED problem I saw was a short caused by corrosion between circuit pathways.

On your Options tool, in Screen/Keyboard, try setting LED Coverage Indicator to Off.

it was in my holster during a rain storm. Perhaps it got a little wet. Could that be it? If so what are my options?

Could be. I've had some raindrops hit my blackberrys with no problem, but just sprinkles. Did yours get very wet, or not?

I have no advice on getting it repaired and so won't touch that question.

You could always try the OS reinstall, just in case.
