Not sure how it could become corrupt, but the computer has to be able to recognize it prior to it being able to charge it. This is what happens if you plug it into a computer without DM installed. It cannot charge (it requres the right USB drivers). I would try the Jl_cmder wipe and see if that helps.

That is not true. I am plugged into my work desktop right now, that does not have Desktop Manager installed and I am charging my BB.

Unhappy VZW:DM not working: running 4.6.0

Hey suddenly I'm having the same problem. I connected today to do my routine backup and now the Desktop Manager is not acknowledging my device. My troubleshooting are as follows:
* I have XP service pack 3
*checked all USB ports on my Dell (front and back and samething)
*running desktop manager 4.6.0
*checked the DM "device connection" properties: Bluetooth off and off on the device, DM starts at start up
* I rebooted
*Keeping on COM1 port (no other choices)
*I did however download VZW OS upgrade 4.3
But I can't upgrade my BB bcuz of the above. I have done nothing to my BB yet. It is in "out of the box" condition. No OS upgrades, no 3rd party apps, not even wallpapers. Nothing! I cherish my BB and protect it vigoriuosly!

Pls help anyone! I luv my BB very much =O)

The drivers could be installed on your work computer already. At my company all of our computers have the BB drivers already installed. It's part of the master image. DM is not installed on any of the computers just the driver only so basically any computer in our office can charge a blackberry.

I have a feeling it's the DM either something has gone corrupt in the registry or the dll file. Uninstall the DM. Then look in c:\program files and delete the Research In Motion Folder. There's also another folder in c:\program files\common files. If you don't see the folders there then don't worry about it.

Look in the registry also HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and delete the Research In Motion Folder also. Also do the same in HKEY_CURRENT_USER

That should remove all items related to the desktop manager in your computer. Reboot and then reinstall the Desktop Manager software.

Before when Desktop Manager was installed in the work computers here a few computers would sometimes stop recognizing the blackberry and it seemed like doing those steps above solved the problem for us.

Oh I forgot there's also one more folder that needs to be deleted if it hasn't been deleted yet. C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data, and delete the Research In Motion folder also.

Most computers do not come with the bb drivers installed and it will not charge it if they are not there. If you search for rimusb, you will probably find them. To my knowledge, there is no way to charge a bb via a PC without these drivers or USB.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried to plug in your Curve on someone elses computer to see if another PC's Desktop Manager will recognize your BB? That would help you determine further if it's something with your BB or with your PC.
