Default my 7290 is in coma

Please Login to Remove!

while i was travelling oversea, my 7290 became unresponsive by all means, keyboard, trackwheel, battery-in-out, etc.

First, i asked our tech support guy, he said there is a reset hole in the back of it, he could insert a pin to reset the machine, but he was afraid that this might break the contract i had with Cingular.

Then, i brought it to the Cingular store, they said the warranty was expired and i had to contact manufacturer for repair.

The 7290 is really in coma right now, any help is welocmed.
Thanks in advacne.

You did not mention if there is a display of any kind. If there is, the OS may have been corrupted. If so you might be able to reload the OS after wiping the unit using one of the wipe programs found on the forum. If the Bb is completly dead and your sure the battery is not the cause , I would seek a referb from cingular. The web sites at cingular sometimes have them for as low as $ 50.
I dont think you will be able to have it repaired for less.

One idea , there may be others.

there is a dialog box, asking me to confirm the date and time, but i couldn't because of the unresponsiveness of any keyboard. Do you still think it is the corruption of OS? Where could i find the wiping porgrams.
Thank you.

Take out the battery for about 1 minute and then replace it. It is showing something on the screen so a reboot should probably fix it.

BlackBerry - BlackBerry | Wireless Handheld Devices, Software & Services from Research In Motion (RIM)

Install it, then look for the file called javaloader.exe in the bin directory of wherever you install the SDK. then simplay run it from the command line (e.g. javaloader -usb wipe). Use the desktop software's app loader first to detect the correct USB port, then run the command. The BB MST be connected directly via USB to the PC.
That's it.

this is a DOS program so run it from the command line.

thank you all.
1. Taking out of battery didn't work.
2. The link doesn't work any more, do you want me to download SDK from BB.

CPR?????? Just kidding....

Have you tried Jl_Cmder???

It's in my signature... Download it and wipe the BB... it will boot to a white screen..... Reload the OS via Desktop Manager.... If this does not work then it's not in a coma, it's dead
