Default If BES server blows up?

If during the service pack upgrade, something happens and the BES server is dead. What should I do? Re-install BES software and restore the previous database?

That's about it. Make sure you have good backups (of the database, cals, etc).

I had a service back go screwy on me once and that's all I had to do. In fact, since the database was on a separate SQL server, once I reinstalled the BES software, everything came back up just fine.

Oh, how do you backup the CALs? Thought the info was stored in the database?

No, that would have been cleaner. I got an error during the install and made the foolish mistake of pressing cancel. That button really needed to be labeled differently as it not only cancelled, it uninstalled all the BES software.

I was not amused.

Keep them in a file somewhere. If you need to, you can always re-enter them into the BES.

^^ that works, too.

Of if you have a way to query the database (like, by using the super easy tool of Query Express), you can run this command to get all the cals:

select licensekey from licensekeys where licensekeys.type = 0

Then just export the results to a flat file for safe keeping.
