Default Can't Downgrade my 9700!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I just bought a new blackberry 9700 (sim free from amazon) which is loaded with the 5.0 operating system. I have been having trouble using apps on my phone through my t mobile internet, facebook, ebay ect wont login, but the browser works fine. Tmob says the problem isnt on their end, but suggested that it is the 5.0 operating system causing the problem. I need to downgrade the OS but seeing as it is brand new there are no previous OS on my PC or on the handheld to use. I have tried wiping my OS using JL_cmder, but it dosent connect to my BB. I am using windows 7. Where can i find an older version of the OS to download? Please someone help!

Thanks

Look UP ^^ to the Latest OS thread above.
In the in first post, at the bottom of the first post, you will see a link to previous OS release. Keep clicking on the Previous OS links until you find one you like.

Which browser? The tmobile wap browser?

It sounds to me like you do not have the blackberry data plan. Do you? Or not?

You say browser, email, and BBM work?

I'd say the other RIM authored BlackBerry apps should also work.

But just for giggles, do you have your apn configured? Check options > advanced options > TCP/IP. If there is nothing entered, enable and enter epc.tmobile.com. No password or username. See what happens.

Backup and let's go over it again.

You have a blackberry data plan.

The blackberry browser, push email, and BBM work.

Other apps do not work? What else does work, and what doesn't work, exactly (besides blackberry appworld)? ... Appworld is flakey, it seems. If that's what you are having trouble with, then all I can advise is search and see what others have figured out. Other RIM branded apps should work, regardless of which version of 5.0 you are running. If you are having trouble with third-party apps, then that's another matter.

There's only one other thing I know of for you to try, based on what I understand, and that is to re-send service books. See How do I resend my service books? - BlackBerryFAQ.

I have a blackberry data plan.
BBM, email and browser work fine

Blackberry App world, Ebay, Facebook, Tube Map, i.e apps that need internet do not work using the carrier internet... but DO when a BT broadband wi-fi connection is used.

Trying the service book thing now...

I'm out of ideas. If it were me I would contact tmobile customer service again. Don't go to a store. Call the 800 number. When the robot asks what you are calling about, say "blackberry." Be polite, but stand your ground and don't let anyone put you off. If something doesn't make sense, say so and ask for more details.

The one thing I don't understand in your story is the "sim free" blackberry. Does that mean it is a t-mobile blackberry, but unlocked?

Interesting. I missed something along the way.

Is the OP on t-mobile USA, or europe/UK?

I didn't think there were unbranded blackberrys in the US except engineering units. ... But OP says bought from Amazon, so I know I'm the one confused.

soko, I want you to call TmobileUK and inquire if you have the FULL BlackBerry Data Unlimited plan, for all Blackberry services.

Some carriers have these "partial" plans, like email and web only. Check with Tmobile UK if there are different levels of BlackBerry plans.
