Very nice. Bill Gates would be proud.
So, exactly what will happen to your 7100g w/4.0 OS if you try to load it? I seem to recall a post by someone who tried to load a 4.1 theme onto a 4.0 device, but can't recall what happened. Will it simply not load, or will it crash the OS?

Yes start with the 7100 List Theme on the Theme making software.
I had been itching for the 4.1 hanheld software for the laptop and blue tooth functionalities but now after this software became availale here and I got to playing a bit on it, darn If I dont want it even more. Here is a quick sample, I did this by playing with the 8700 theme and my own jpgs, this rocks.

All this work is being done on the themes developer and though they are saved themes, as you see from NJBlackBerry's post Quoted above, You need to have 4.1 Handheld software installed on your BB for it to work. If you do then you need to go into Options --> Themes and choose it from there.

alx is probably easier, but make sure you load both the theme and theme_reader.

Are you exporting them as an alx files if so try as a .jad file and using the web for OTA.

Wirelessly posted (BB 7100i: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry7100i/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/103)
Ok, I've got some tests coming up in school, but I'll post the theme I'm working on as soon as I finish. I'm creating new icons. For instance, I've replaced the phone icon with the star trek communicator closed, then open in the focus state. Spiderman now replaces your web icon (a little web head homage). I'm trying to find sci fi and comic icons that make sense as replacements for the current set(at least to me and hopefully, to some of you). Any suggestions for icons along those lines, post the images here, or a link to them and I'll try to include them....

The way I did mine was I opened my BB the 7250, went through all the options, and then I chose the appropriate icons I wanted from the 8700 icons group (In reality I used some from all since there were some 7100 and some 7200 icons I liked more than the 8700).
I did this by simple clicking on the # like symbol which opens the choices for the particular sample you started with then I moved up the folders till I found the series i wanted in your case(7100) and looked for an icon named the same as the one I wanted to replace. (The name appears next to the icons you want to replace). Once You do a few you will see how easy it is this is a great application.
What I am going to try today and will try to post pictures later, is now that I see that the icons it prefers to use are .png files, and i know the size is roughly 32 by 32 pixels, I am going to start creating my own icons in Photoshop so that I can truly have a fully customized theme of my own choosing and to my own liking. What I am so surprised about is that if this application makes it this easy, why was it not available sooner, not that I am knocking the devekopers or the bringing of it to our attention, I love it and thank everyone involved. I hope this helps, if you have other trouble let me know.
Not the greatest example because I did it in a hurry to show here that you can esily make the icons and be able to use them I made my avatar into an Icon that I will use for My contacts (I will clean it up later just wanted you to see it).

For any that did not display great on the 7200 series from the 8700 series icons(remember that there is a great display brightness difference between the two), what I do is bring the icon into Photoshop and tweak there and resave it to a different directory so as to not mess up the originals then i pull it up that way. You have to tweak a lot but it can be done.

Actually only the 8700 and the 7100i have 4.1. This means it will not work today on your 7290.

You need Handheld 4.1 not just the desktop 4.1 and I do not believe the 7290 has it yet so no it wont work, it wont work on my 7250 either but that is not stopping me from making them and having them ready for when it is released it cant be too far away.

Yeah I know, but I am extremely happy with the 7250 I have and As much as I can see the excitment of the 8700 and the newer features like more memory faster speed and all that in my mind it does not warrant the money that it is fetching, I wont leave Verizon for Cingular (everyone I kno that has it has poor coverage and dropped calls), and ike a new model car, I am strong believer you never buy the first generation of anything, there is always a breaking in period and changes will come and Id rather it no be at my expense. Besides I rely too much on my unit to make a change and then be afflicted by problems. Lets hope that they rush the software out son and then when we put our new thems up we will feel like we have pseudo 8700s at least, hahaha.

Two quick questions here. I have downloaded this package and the Blackberry SDK along with the 4.1 handheld simulators. To use this package, do I have to also install the Java developers Kit(s) as well? Also, is there any specific order that is necessary for installing the different packages?
Thanks for your response.
