Default Guide: How to read Chinese on your 8800 with the latest Rogers OS.

Please Login to Remove!

I got the problem fixed with 4.2.1.138 OS from rogers.

1, First install 4.2.1.138 Roger OS.

2, Load two .alx files for the simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese fonts - I extract those two files from an older OS.

Email me if you are interested in those two files (only 800k).

Default My method is easier

Just download the Hong Kong CSL (Chinese) version.

When installing it, set your location into Hong Kong. Then you can read Chinese in GB or Big5; you will also have Chinese Pingying Input method and five other Chinese input methods.

Yes, that's easier and that's what I did before, but you won't get 4.2.1.138 Roger or other fancy latest OS. Use my method, you will get the latest OS and Chinese.

It should work for curve as long as it has Hong Kong CSL (Chinese) version OS, then you can just copy two chinese font file from this OS and make a installation file for them. Then you can choose any OS you want and install those Chinese font on the top of the new OS. Good luck.

Default Could you send me the two Chinese alx please?

Hi, Dahan,

Could you send me the two Chinese alx please? I just upgraded to vondafone, and lost the capacity to read Chinese again! I tried to downgrade back to Hongkong CSL, but like getting a disease, downgrading is possible, the Chinese fonts are gone forever, together with the Pinyin inputs

It will be great if you also extract the Pinyin input

I believe you also need all the .COD file which the .ALX file refer/pointed to.

COD file is inside

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8800-vx.x.x.x_Px.x.x.xx\Java

This is a list of COD require for my 4.2.1.138 Hong Kong CSL installation

The easiest way is to just install the whole OS instead of mix and match the ALX and COD file, it can be done manaully, but very time consuming.
