Angry GPS Enabled on Moto Q and Disabled on 8830

Please Login to Remove!

The new Motorola Q 9m has finally been released today by Verizon. I can't believe that they left the sGPS enabled on this phone and disabled it on the 8830. That stupid statement that Verizon's exec made about GPS damaging Verizon's network is baloney. If Verizon really thought that GPS could hurt their Network then they probably would have disabled it on the Moto Q as well. Maybe Motorola told them to take a walk when Verizon asked for it to be disabled. Come on Rim, start standing up for yourself. When will Verizon stop lying to its customers?

Maybe this means that the days of disabling the GPS are over.

Damn, it's out already? Maybe I'll go swap my 8830 for it. Not for GPS alone, but for other things as well. The new 9m should also have Mobile OS 6 on it too. Yummy.

Where did you see that GPS is fully enabled? On the website it shows "aGPS capable for e911 . . ."

From what I have read, Win Mobile 6 is only a slight improvement over 5. Its still buggy and bloated. Only a well implemented Linux OS would make me even consider leaving BB.

Somebody keep me honest here, but I believe that the FCC requires all carriers have a certain percentage of handsets with aGPS to assist with 911 situations. It isn't the "fully open" ( i.e; accessable by the phone owner) GPS, and is only used by emergency personnel to help locate callers in need.
