Default 8310 OS Upgrade/Update

Please Login to Remove!

I have a couple of questions about the OS on my 8310.
First, how can I find out what OS version is currently on my BB? I've seen the screen with the information, but I don't really know what "title" pertains to the OS.
Secondly, are there any advantages to upgrading/updating to the newest OS version, and if so, can someone briefly explain what they are?

Thanks once again for all your help.

Hi

To get your OS version go to options > about.

You are looking for someting like 4.2.x.xxx platform number 2.x.x.xx.

Some upgrades fix bugs and some bring new features. For example the upcoming 4.5 OS upgrade will bring a whole host of new features and will be well worth the upgrade.

My bb works well so I have never upgraded yet but will do so when 4.5 is officially released.

Like any software update/upgrade it depends on the update/upgrade you're talking about. I mean, is it always advantageous to upgrade Windows? Depends...

Most OS updates have their own threads and you can read up on them, if desired.

Thanks to Foxglove and everyone that has given me their input. Foxglove, I now see the information I was looking for, thanks. When I finally do decide to upgrade / update my OS. Do I have to use AT&T's website to do it or can I go directly to BB's website ?? Takeshi, please ... LOL ... don't mention windows upgrade ... LOL. I upgraded my laptop from XP to Vista Premium ... it locked me out of some of my files. I'll work on that this weekend. Thanks again

Thanks JSanders. I appreciate your time. I'll read that thread first chance I get. Yet another question that came to mind ... LOL ... My 8310 is working great. Now ... is it to my advantage to update / upgrade my OS everytime a new version is released ? Or should I just wait until v4.5 is offically released ??
