remote password reset with content protection.

We just upgrade all of our BES servers to 4.1.6 MR1 from 4.1.4.

Now i know 4.1.5 had the feature to remotely reset the PSWD and lock the BB whit content protection on.

And 4.1.6 should have all the changes that 4.1.5 had right?

What im getting at is we tested this feature and it didnt work, When reseting the PSWD from the BES, the users BB recieves a prompt asking to enter their current Password in order to acept the over the air password reset.

Is this how it works? cause this is exactly how it worked prior to upgrading to 4.1.6

I was dealing with this issue as well and found this nifty little article. However, the part that the article DOESNT tell you is that this applies only to devices with 4.2.1 and earlier. I've tried it out with some folks in house and it works just find. Older devices (4.2.1 and earlier) are in the boat you described. Newer devices (4.2.2 and later) are okay.

Enjoy!

Ok so i tried it today on a 8820 with 4.2.2.169
and the bes manager showed the following:

Password status: error
IT policy status message: unknown error

Any ideas?
Is there an item in the IT policy that needs to be set to allow it to accept a Password?

That's an unrelated error to the original issue.
IT Policy Error Status

Its not that much of a help though. In my opinion, push the IT policy again and see what happens. Restart Policy Service. Wipe, EA, rinse and repeat.

It only works with devices running OS 4.3+ in my experience. If the user is running 4.2.2 and below do not know their password then a wipe is required.
