Default I have a unlocked 9530 running on Rogers and I have some questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hey,

I picked one of these up the other day off of ebay. Everything seems to be working fine however I noticed a few things and was hoping someone will have some answers for me. I tried searching for the answers on here last night but was unsuccessful.

Anyways, if someone can help would be much appreciated.

1. The phone reads my Rogers SIM Card service information without any problems. However when I make a phone call I see the previous users phone number listed in the "My Number" field??? After trying serveral tests I've come to realize it has no affect to my service, my phone sends and receives using my Rogers number. It's more of an annoyance and was hoping to remove it but I cannot find anywhere in the option menus to remove it. Any idea?

2. Firewall is enabled grayed out and locked. No settings are selected but I was wanting to Disable it but can't because it's grayed out. I tried "reset settings" but it does not help. Still Grayed out Enabled and locked.... again any idea?

3. Is there a calibration tool to use to calibrate the screen?

I think that is all.....

So far I'm really enjoying The Storm. I've had a Pearl, Curve 8900 and now The Storm. It's taking some getting use to but so far I'm really enjoying it. I'm running .114 OS could be better but it still runs pretty good. I 'm aware there's the .122 release but I might just wait before I install it, I want to get familiar and comfortable with the device first... It's like learning blackberry all over again!

Thanks for your time.

I figured out the Firewall issue! Got it Disabled by using CrackUtil.

Now if someone can figure out the "My Number" issue..... I'll keep on digging around on here at the same time.

Thanks again!

Look at Options > Sim card > My number, can you edit that?

That actually shows my Rogers number, no need to edit that.....

Only in the Phone app is where it displays the old number.

I'm very puzzled by this....

I've been searching everywhere on here for a solution - no luck.

Even tried Crackberry forums - no luck there either.... Someone has had to run into this issue before... you would think anyways. I know you can hide it because I've done that in the past with my 8130 and 8900 but this device doesn't have that option for some reason???

Very Puzzled...

its a CDMA 9530 Storm, its done with the programming, when it was originally setup on the (bell/telus/verizon) you will have to get the lock code for it and remove the phone number stored in the settings. Good luck with that the carriers usually want your first born to give out that lock code.

Try entering ##000000 to enter the CDMA programming mode and changing the number in there.

I actually found this fix on Crackberry and it worked perfect! I knew someone must have run into this issue before....

Wow, I managed to fix my few problems! Other than the flakey OS, this Storm is awesome! I downloaded the two elecite themes "iberry and droid" the other day.... they look amazing on the storm!

Now, if we can get a new official 9530 OS that would put the icing on the cake!

I seriously love this thing!!!

I paid $480 for it, came with everything.... not bad deal.

From what I saw on ebay, Most of them were going anywhere between $500 - $600.

I was in the same boat and thought that I'd have to live with someone else's number on my unlocked Version Storm... Thanks for the tidbit of info Now even my speed dial #1 works the way it should - straight to voice mail!

Cheers!

This is more than an annoyance. A lot of the functionality on my phone was disabled. When I put in my SIM the signal always showed "activation required". Having changed the number it now shows Rogers. I am using a "hybrid" firmware and I was having problems shutting off the phone. Now it's fine. Thanks for this fix. It saved me a lot of grief and reinstalling the Verizon firmware.

Default Help!

Hi,
I just got an unlocked BlackBerry Storm as a birthday present today and I'm with Rogers. I am able to use it to make and receive phone calls but I cant get on the net or check my voicemmail. I am also having the problem where a different number shows up as "my number". I read the previous posts about using CDMA coding but I'm not sure how to do that, can someone explain how exactly to do that please? I was using an IPhone before with a data package and that does not work on the Storm, does anyone know; if I get a blackberry data package from Rogers will that work with my Storm? How can I check my voicemail? And how do I get rid of the unknown number that shows up as mine? Please help
Thanks

Wirelessly posted (9530; (I'm mobile) MF231; 35h)

You do need THE BlackBerry Data Plan. Then you'll need the generic Rogers service books.
Then you'll need to follow the directions posted in our sticky notes at the top of this Storm section for ATT and TMobile.
It won't be easy.

Hello,
Here are the instructions.
1) From the mainscreen of the BlackBerry, press the green call button to enter the phone
2) Type in ##MSLCODE(##000000) then the green talk button (ie: ##000000 Green talk button)
3) In the CDMA service edit screen, delete the number in the first row (000000xxxx) and replace it with your current phone number
4) Press the menu key and choose save
5) The device will re-boot
6) When the device re-boots, Activation Required will be gone and the active carrier name will now appear

You *do* realize that in a post dated 04-13-2009 (see post #7 above), the person said they'd found and fixed the problem.

Post was almost 6 months old!

I have the 9530 and the##000000 code doesn't work. It says "invalid password". Does anyone know what does work? I also tried the ##MSLCODE and the response was: MSL Code requires 6 digits.

Original Lucy, is the 9530 a Telus one? If it is you have to go to a Telus store to get the proper MSL code. When I got my 9550 on day one that is what I had to do because the MSL code is tied to the IMEI number. The ##000000 is a generic code that will not work with Telus branded 9530 and 9550 phones.

Thank you for that. Yes, it is a 9530 from Telus. I will head over to their store and ask for it. Will they give me a difficult time over it? I may have to take some "muscle" with me.
