I've been using both the Blackberry 7510 and the 7520. Nextel and BB claims that the 7520 lasts 169 hours standby (roughly over 7 days) and 152 minutes talk time (over 2 hours) for the 7520 which uses a little extra juice than the 7510.
For my brand new 7510, I use about 20-30 minutes max per day (phone + email + DC + calendar) and at times I don't use it at all (no DC, no browsing, no email, no phone). I'm lucky if I get over one and a half days worth of juice even with auto-shutoff at night.
Despite it all, I still can't seem to get enough juice to last the phone for more than a full day. Note that I have 'auto shutoff' at 1am which turns back on at 8:30am.
I just got my 7520 with a brand new battery. Charged it fully only when the batteries are out and so far, still the same results as my 7510.
Anyone else here with a standard abttery on their 7510 or 7520 that lasts over two full days of light usage?....or at least close to Nextel's/BB's claims?
I (and the people I work with) have the same experience as you do. An extended battery will give you more time and is almost a necessity for heavy users.
Good to know that I am not the only one. I think Nextel should revise their claims on battery life from their website. over 7 days standby? That's way too far fetched.
I called my Nextel rep and asked him about Nextel having the least amount of battery life out of all of the Blackberry devices. He told me that the reason their battery life is less than the others is because the Nextel devices are always connected to the network (when it is available). The other devices from other carriers are not always connected. They connect only as needed, thus using very little battery power unless in use. He also said that he has an extended battery and it doesn't last much longer than the regular battery. One of the Cons of the 7520 and 7510.
My extended battery rocks, I couldn't do with the normal one now. I am a heavy use and always make it through the day provided the phone was on the charger the previous night
I can get nearly 2 days of heavy use out of my 7520 isn't that enough? how I could only get 2 days out of my nextel i830 before I traded for the 7520 I think the battery is fine, get a car plug, one at home and one at the office and you're all set.
2 full days? that's not bad considering what I'm having now.
I still have my old 7510 which is offline but I kept it turned on. It's already the third day and the juice bar is not even at the halfway mark thus showing that Nextel and BB's claim of seven day standby is true providing you are not on a network. so sneaky......
BTW, does the extended battery conflict with included the cradle?
