thats right now no more options to leave messages on server on pop integration and the status is changed to read on the server or in some cases deleted .

Also since there is no more inbox on the BIS, Rim allocated 400mb space for each mailbox on their server, but i believe there is a default auto aging set to 1 or 2 months. So it basically means that you cannot run out of space.

each email address has a different mail icon on the blackberry screen and you can choose from which address your are sending, also yes auto bcc is configurable for each individual account.

you also get one service book per email address

I just upgraded to BIS 2.0.

Where is the "sent from address" option? is no longer available? or is there a different way that all accounts i configured go out from the same server.

Also with the new Yahoo! Mail integration, reconcile now does work as well with synchronizing inbox.

the sent from address is controlled on the device , when you send you can choose the option : using and it displays all your integrated accounts
(ex: send using : or webclient )

When you add a remote email account in the new BIS, it automatically uses that address for sending from the BB. You can select the email account to send from right on the BB when you compose a message.

Wait, what's this about 30-day emails and no folder?! There are some messages I archive and have had for months. I put them into a specific folder on my BB. Are you telling me I can't do that anymore? Same goes for attachments.

Yes - in fact it supports OWA 2003 - 1.8 does not

Emails that are on your BB will be available until you delete them, or you start running into handheld memory shortages, at which time the oldest emails are autodeleted. I don't know about the More Available impact. Attachments will only be available for 30 days. And yes, no folders on your BB. All this is with BIS 2.0 of course.

I'm a little confused. (Nothing New There!)
If I currently host an IMAP server at home, forward my work emails to an email address I have set up on my server, will I be able to use folders that way? Also, will the BIS 2.0 still spoof my email as if it were coming from work? I currently just forward my work emails to my BB address, but with the 5mb limit, I don't think that's going to work anymore!

As to the folders, from what I here, the only ones that BIS 2.0 will use are the Inbox, sent, and delete/trash. I think you can set the spoofing address to anything you want for each polled address.

I've now seen various mails on various forums (including here) suggesting that

1. BIS 2.0 polling POP3 accounts is slower than the equivalent using BIS 1.8. (As I recall 1.8 was *supposed" to be adaptive, shortening the period between polls when it spotted there was a 'conversation' going in. Maybe this doesn't happen in 2.0?)

2. Even mail pushed to your BB's own BIS 2.0 email address takes a while to arrive, whereas doing the same on BIS 1.8 was typically virtually instant.

Anyone seen either of these symptoms as a 'difference', as a consensus to add this at the top of this thread?

I haven't switched yet, I am not sure about how this will affect me, I currently forward all my email to my BB and like the "instant" delivery, nothing here tells me that will be the same.

Also, how do they tell the difference from forwarded mail verses mail sent directly to your cingular addy as far as the 5M limit?

It took me about 3 months to get my 8700 setup without any additional charges for my 3rd party apps, last thing I want to do is go through that battle again.

You do not need to switch to 2.0 to get the $29.99 plan. I think that is what you were saying, if I am wrong I appologize but want it to be clear...$29.99 is available for any BIS user with a qualifying plan, no 2.0 upgrade is neccessary.

I set up two new Blackberries with the BIS 2.0 account today (both on Cingular's service), and they seem to work just as quickly as 1.8. I deffinitely dislike not being able to see the inbox online, but otherwise it seems to be ok.

Both accounts are forwarding to their accounts, so I can't attest to how quickly it POPs an account.

Since upgrading to BIS 2.0 appears to be like getting married without dating, I want to get this right.

If I upgrade to BIS 2.0, I know I lose folders and the ability to check e-mail on-line. That's OK. Can I still change settings (configure accounts, set sent-from addresses, apply filters, etc.) by going on line into the BIS Web client from a desktop computer?

I really can't believe it. I used the webmail feature everyday... numerous times a day.

Do we know how permanent this is? I really NEED the webmail feature.

I figure I'll give them a month. If it's not back by then, I'm getting rid of my BlackBerry.
