i've come across this problem twice in the last week..

i'm given a phone number to call and it's a combination of numbers and letters.. and i can't figure out which numbers correspond to which letters!

during another call, the automated service asked me to input my account number, which consisted of both numbers and letters, and again, i couldn't figure out which numbers to press when it came to the letters!

anyone else have this problem? is there a quick solution?

If I'm not mistaken you just type the normal letters in and the BB will convert them when you hit the send button. I am sure the answer will be in the FAQ.

Yep, that works except you have to use the alt key to get the letters to work.

yup, that should work; say if you have to dial 1-800-BBFORUMS, hold alt when you dial the letters

This is why we propper telephone numbers in the UK :D

The online help system on the BlackBerry has very accurate instructions on how to dial alpha characters.
