Read the FAQ's

But in order to text your gf, you just bring up her name in your phonebook, click the wheel, voila, MMS

two options
1. go to the messages area and click in the wheel --- choose compose mms, (by the way if she has a Blackberry, use compose Pin) then type her name choose it then choose her mobile number
2. go to your address book find her name highlight it and then click the trackwheel and choose compose MMS

You could do that. Or you can just email her instead of texting her. Since she uses Sprint, her email address is going to be like this....5555555555@messaging.sprintpcs.com (place her phone number in place of those 5's....) - that's faster, more simple to do, and it won't go against your MMS messages. With Nextel (or Sprintel) you only get 100 MMS messages. And they add up pretty quick. Hope this helps.

splacko is incorrect. The #@messaging.nextel.com will count against your 100 MMS monthly allotment. Whether the messages are sent to other MMS enabled phones or to SMS devices they count the same.

It took 2 days for the MMS option to show up on my 7100i.

Love it.

According to RIM's website, the 7100i can only received SMS's. Doesn't sound right to me but maybe. Check it out.

http://www.blackberry.com/products/b...rry7100i.shtml

Note the "SMS**" and the "**" at the bottom of the page.

I just talked to a Nextel service guy and he tells me that is not possible to text with the blackberry. You can email if you subscribe to the $35 or $45 service package. This is really bad as I go and buy a really smart phone at it turns out to be a dud.

The 7100 only supports sending and receiving MMS. If the recipient has SMS provisioned on their phone that is how it will be delivered.

If the service from the i860 is provisioned with SMS or 2way you can't/won't send/receive on the 7100. The unit must have MMS to send a message.

Yes, with the unlimited plan you receive 100 MMS messages on the 7100 or 100 SMS on the 7520. Again, receive only on the 7520...so that discussion doesn't blow up again.

You need the data plan to accomplish this... You cannot simply pop a sim in and use the BB that way.

You are only allowed INCOMING messages.

E-mail (5555555@carrier.com) does not count against your MMS allotment.
