Question BB Browser won't go online but Opera works! *UNUSUAL*

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I recently got my hands on a 8520 Curve and I got the data plan to go with it. I can to surf the net using Opera but no other data app, including BB Browser, works. I unlocked this phone using an unlock code (15 bucks ). Also used a software to make it BES free so I can enable and disable password and firewall.

Still however I am unable to use BB browser, preinstall AIM and MAIL. It is annoying not to have these work as I can't download apps directly from my BB using the BB Browser.

I do apologize if this was answered before. I am not sure whats going on here or what to type in the searches. Any help or advice will be appriciated.

Confirm with your carrier that you have a BlackBerry plan and not a generic data plan.

I did tell them that. They directed me to download Opera and use it to go online. I am using Prepaid service from Simple Mobile (MVNO) who are using T-Mobile network.

There is nothing I can do from my phone?

No and it's not unusual. You need a BlackBerry data plan.

A generic mobile data plan is not a blackberry data plan. You must have the blackberry data plan for RIM/blackberry branded applications. That's why opera mini works for you, but not the native blackberry browser. The same will be the case with other native applications on the device that require data service. See blackberryfaq.com.

Exclamation heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelppp!!!!

GUYS THIS IS MY FIRST POST I AM A NEWBIE PLEASE DON'T MIND MY IGNORANCE.

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!!

I have Blackberry Curve 8530 from Virgin Mobile!

I have an unlimited data, text and pics plan. Everything was working A-O-K until I became an idiot and changed my number over the Virgin Mobile website BY MY SELF!

I had to contact customer support for help because my phone wouldn't dial out! I couldn't access my account on the website! Got both of those issues fixed but now my issue is the web browser. My opera mini works but Blackberry Browser doesn't. I tried calling CS but they are closed right now. I am so pissed right now. Can anyone tell me how to fix this issue?

The tech support lady told me I have to dial ##952090 to be able to access a special menu. I was wondering if my problem can be fixed through this menu???

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Thumbs up :::::::: Update ::::::::

I FIXED THE ISSUE!!!

BEFORE I POSTED ON HERE I WENT TO MY SPECIAL MENU
[I GOT THE NUMBER FROM MY SERVICE PROVIDER IT STARTS WITH ##,
MINE IS ##952090 THEN I HIT THE GREEN BUTTON TO CALL]

I SCROLLED ALL THE WAY DOWN

I SAW MY THING SAID

773849xxxx@MVNO29.SPRINTPCS.COM

I CHANGED THE NUMBER TO MATCH MY NEW NUMBER .... BUT WITH NO AVAIL!

In order for it to work I had to go to:

OPTIONS --> MOBILE NETWORK --> [PRESS BLACKBERRY KEY] --> UPDATE PROFILE.

It will do provisioning or something like that and automatically update your phone.

Just posting this answer in case someone else runs into this problem!!!

Hope this helps, if not contact me!
