Default 8320 Trackball Issue

Please Login to Remove!

Just picked up the 8320 and it works great, but I noticed the trackball is slightly lower than my old 8100 making it a tad difficult to press down with my thumb. My old Pearl's trackball definitely sits higher. Has anyone else noticed this? I'll go back to the T-mobile store tomorrow and look at their display model. If it's just mine I'll ask for a replacement.

I wouldnt be suprised if it was an intentional change to prevent the 'touching the trackball silences the ringer' issues the pearl had at first.

I dont have a pearl to compare it to right now though.

On a side note, sliding the SIM card holder toward Unlock was a bit*h! That little piece of metal did not want to move w/o significant pressure. And after it opened and I inserted the SIM card into the slot, closing the card holder was again a bit*h. My 8100 SIM card holder slid in both positions very easily. Anyone notice this too??

They seem about the same on my 8100 and 8320...

This is one of the first things I noticed. Not a huge deal but the Pearl's trackball is a little easier to use.

I definitely have similar issues with my SIM card holder. It won't snap closed. If I pull it down really hard with my fingernail (to the point where I'm afraid it will break) then it will stay down just long enough for me to get the battery in over it. But the slightest shift and it will pop back up. This hasn't effected the phone in anyway -- it recognizes the SIM even if the latch isn't totally shut before locking in the battery -- but it is a little annoying. Just don't drop the phone too hard because that SIM is going to FLY!

I don't have the 8320 yet, but did go to the store to play with one yesterday. That was the first thing that I noticed. I much prefer the trackball on my Pearl. It feels more "solid." The Curve trackball fell like there was sand in there if that makes any sense.

That probably won't divert me from getting one though.

I feel like an iPhone user. People already have the 8320 and my 8300 is only 2 months old.....such is life.

The trackball on the 8300 feels "grittier" than the 8100. Feels like there's fine grain under the ball. The 8100's ball is as smooth as silk.

That's because your 8100 was polished through use.... buy a new one for it and it feels rough again.

I have also noticed that my Curve trackball sits lower than my Pearl. I think we'll get used to the Curve's trackball height in no time .

i actually like the "gritty" feel of the roll. it makes it feel more sturdy and in-control to me.
