Default 9810 won't boot up

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone.
I have a blackberry torch 9810 which will not boot up. I have only recently bought it second hand and it worked perfectly with two different sim cards on the day I got it. I left it for a couple of days until I had time to copy details across but when I tried to boot it then it wouldn't get past 3 quarters of the white bar load screen. It either hangs there or stops and starts again.

I have read up quite a bit on different sites and tried the following things:
1. I have tried running the uploader program directly to attempt to kick it out of constant reboot.
2. I have changed the operating system a number of times, both upgrading and down grading using the blackberry software.
3. I have changed the operating system directly from the blackberry website
4. I have changed the operating system using a version specific to my sim card.
None of these steps have been sucessful. I believe that I need to load a program to wipe the system but the only ones I can find on the network appear to load all sorts of extra advertising features and carry dangerous software so I am worried about using these.
I have tried to get hold of BBSAK and also JL_

I need a wipe program that I can down load easily without any risks so I can then try to wipe the system and then install the OS again.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I am getting close to throwing the thing away, which is a pity as it looks like it has hardly every been used, unlike my other handset which has had a very hard life!

Help or advice would be very appreciated.

Did you not find JL_Cmdr and BBSAK?

Hi
Yes, I have found both of those programs but it seems to be impossible to get them to download onto my computer without countless 'free' probably dangerous programs. Is there a safe site to get them from?

I have a 9810 and the battery can go dead depending on the apps running or the constant search for the network. You did not mention if the battery is charged or if plugged in to a charger it works.

I would try the battery first.

The battery is not the problem, I have another 9810 which is working properly still and I have swopped batteries, recharged them etc etc etc.

I eventually got BBSAK to talk to the dead phone once and it wiped the software, I thought I was getting somewhere. I even go the error message!

When I started to up load a new OS, the phone has now decided to go to a white screen after 2/3rds of the white bar has passed. At that point it is totally dead and invisible to BBSAK. The blackberry desktop does appear to find the phone but can't do anything with it.

I am quite stuck now. How are you meant to reset a phone with a completely white screen?

Was the OS for the model?
Were you loading from a PC and not OTA?
Was the BB plugged into a charger during reload?
Were you doing anything else on the PC during reload?

All are possible issues during a reload.

White screen "generally" indicates a corrupted OS or other APP.

I have used blackberry desk top to up load the OS and it works out which system to install I believe. I have also tried directly from the website and also tried finding and installing the software for my particular phone provider.

I have tried deleting the vendor file in the app loader directory, I have tried wiping with both BBSAK and also VL.

I have tried on two separate PCs each time ensuring that nothing else is going on.
I think that what happens is that once the phone is connected to the pc, it starts turning on, gets to the white screen and then it stops communicating with the pc and the whole instal crashes.

I think the phone clearly wants to go in the bin but it is a hardly used handset!

Any ideas, anyone?

Having watched it trying to reinstall a number of times, it always gets stuck at the part where it is trying to reconnect with JVM, whatever that means?

Sounds like you tried everything. Other than dumping it in the bin you might try a different PC to load the new OS. Unless the BB is defective or has a bad spot on the internal memory there is not much else. It might be some type of conflict on the PC being used.

Wondering if you dropped it or it was wet. Weird things happen if either happened.

Reconnect to JVM is where the OS is validated.

Edit
Try this

Hi

Thanks for your suggestions. The phone was new to me only a few days before it failed so I can't be certain of what happened to it before that, apart from to say that it looks virtually brand new and it worked perfectly with two different sim cards the first time I turned it on!

I have tried three different computers and also using the web direct method. I believe that there is some damage to the internal memory so it will not let the JVM step complete.

I think I will by a tatty working 9810 and then swop the shiny bits over!

I hate knowing so little about what is going on with it!
