Default Older entries in Outlook Calendar are Deleted

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. I'm relatively new to the blackberry and I am having some difficulties. I have been using desktop manager for my blackberry 8830 to Outlook 2003. I recently noticed that all of my older appointments (earlier than mid-August of this year) have been deleted, both on my blackberry and on Outlook Calendar. Is there any way I can restore these items (they are not in deleted items on outlook)? Can I prevent this from happening again (I just changed the setting on my blackberry from "keep for 60 days" to "keep forever" - is this adequate?)
Thank you!

Welcome to the BB Forums.

There is a setting in the Sync Configuration in Desktop Manager that allows older entries to be deleted. Look at the Configure tab in Sync.

Thank you. Is there any possible way I can restore the old appointments (in Outlook) -- I regularly refer back to them.

I too refer back to 'old' calendar entries. I recently experienced a situation where my outlook cal entries older than the last 30 days were gone. (i am certain it was a result of something I did.... ) Anyway, here is how I remedied it.
With your BB connected, open DM, select 'synchronize'(dbl click), select the configuration tab, select 'configure sync', select/highlight 'calendar', change from 'wireless sync' to 'outlook calendar'. Then hit the 'configure' button, go to 'advanced settings', then 'date range'. Under 'options', I selected 300 days prior and 300 days after today(or whatever range you want).
Hit xxx8216;okxxx8217;, 'ok', 'close'. Then again select 'synchronize' (dble click), and hit 'synchronize now'.
It SHOULD load everything that is on your Outlook calendar... for the last 300 days.

Then (and finally !!!)...go back and switch your calendar option BACK to wireless sync. And change 'date range' back to 'transfer all scheduled items'.
In my case, i can now go back to late january as a reference point for past appointments.

I futzed around with mine for a little too long before I did the above... this worked for me but there may be an easier way to do it....
Hope it helps.

Thank you for your advice. I think I've lost everything, though. My problem is that all of my past appointments were deleted -- both on my blackberry AND in Outlook. I guess I'm out of luck. I think this is a result of not having changed my settings from "keep for sixty days" to "keep forever." I was hoping that there was away to restore the old appointments, but I don't think there is. Thanks anyway!!

You should set Desktop wins as well so if there is conflict it will not delete it from Outlook, just from hh...I don't think there is an easy way to recover your old app.

I am having this very same problem (also too late so save the old appointments).
When I go to the Desktop Mgr, synchronize, configuration then highlight calendar - Microsoft Outlook and then click the drop down for configure and then select "advanced settings" I can not find any options that allow any changes to be made regarding keeping or deleting older appointments.

Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks

Not I...

BTW, it may not matter but my device is an 8800 (profile out of date)

I just want to know how to stop the bleeding.
How do I get the BB to stop deleting older appointments in Outlook?

When the comp prompt that deletion is on either handheld or outlook, you can click re-sync and you will have a different option.

Default Calendar Entries Deleted on 8830

Did anyone ever get this one figured out? I'm still having problems with my calendar entries getting deleted off of my BB. See the details posted in:

Well I don't think I have it figured out but the last several times I sync'd I did not get the deletion prompt.
When I was getting it and I selected re-sync there were no other options to select. The sync launched and once finished there were no more promptsor messages.
Separate but perhaps related issue, is there a reason to upgrade DM from 4.2.1.6 to the latest version?

I am sorry to keep bumping this up because it seems I am the only person that can't figure this out.

How do I configure my 8800 to keep appointments forever and quit trying to delete them from Outlook?

Thanks

To keep appointments forever... From BB Desktop Mgr and BB connected, click Synchronize, then the Configuration tab. Click the Configure Synch button. Select Calendar, then click Configure >>> Advanced Settings. Select Transfer All Scheduled Items on the Date Range tab and click OK, OK and Close.

Mono17, Thanks but I've done all that. When I sync I get notification of the pending deletions and must choose re-sync each time or the older appointments will be deleted. I thought I had seen a setting on the device itself to control this but I sure can't find anything.

I just handled this problem..you simply need to free up memory, delete apps, whatever. I promise this is the solution.

Have you experienced losing calendar appointments due to low memory? Can you give some detail? There is another member here today having lost calendar entries and I didn't think it was a memory issue.

I also keep around 15mb open, and it happens to me as well. However, it didn't start until my recent upgrade to .176. I agree with CBR900RR's post above, if you hit the 're-sync' button it seems to correct it for the day....but I have to do this the first time I sync each day.
