i completely agree. I don't understand why it needs to be on to focus (3-4 seconds) and then turn off and then take the pictures. It almost makes you nauseous from staring at it... that would be nice to disable it so it only blinks when you take the picture.

hmm... well, its on to focus so that it can truly focus. if you focus without light, then turn on a light, chances are your focus wont be focused anymore
if a flash is required to take a picture, then fosusing with that same flash is photography 101
That the least of the issue with the camera. Have you tried to take a pix of little kids. It takes so long to shoot that I have missed some great shots of my grandchildren. I think they have to speed the sequence up.
But the bright flash is great in a dark restaurant when you need to read the check or even the menu.

Noone is getting hype I'm just saying from reading a lot of threads people make slot of complaints when the phone is in its early stages. Its just like a first year car that doesn't have all the bugs worked out yet.....give it sometime for a couple of more software updates and the bugs will be worked out

what i'm saying is if you want to take a picture, you press the button. The light stays on for 2-3 seconds during focus. In the mean time, you've absolutely blinded everyone who is in the picture and by the time it takes the picture (3-4 seconds later), most people are tired from smiling already. You say it needs the flash to focus, but why don't other cameras need them? You don't see my digital camera focus using the flash and then take the picture, do you?
