Default Has anyone had luck using your 8100 as a MP3 player in your car?

Please Login to Remove!

I have bought the 2.5 to 3.5mm audio adapter with the mic from Seidio (PN ADA3-BB8100M35FST). The first one worked one only one side my car. If I pulled the 3.5mm cable out of the car stereo about 1mm I could get it to work. When I got a replacement from Seidio and plugged it in I still only had audio on one side. Now I also had a crackling and popping sound too when everthing is plugged in. Has anyone had any luck with the Seidio adapters?

Mike

I have the adapter. It works ok. The sound is not that great, which is what can be expected from using the headphone jack as the output. If you have a playlist it can work just fine, if not I don't recommend navigating songs while driving.

I had the same problem when using that adapter in my car, though with headphones it worked fine. I gave up and got an iPod.

That's weird. It should work without a hitch. I have a belkins FM receiver that I used to play audio from my bb to the car stereo and it worked fine with the seido adapter. No reason why it shouldn't with it directly to the stereo. Do you have some kind of wire going from the seido adapter to the stereo to make it longer maybe that's not wired right.

FWIW

I use my BB-8130 as an MP3 player all the time in my car. It should be noted though that my car (89 BMW) has a cassette deck, so I just use one of those old-style walkman adaptors. Works like a charm!

You need Seidio's "AUDIO-OUT COUPLER" ...something about the AUX input's impedance being too low for the Pearl's flux capacitor.

I do exactly the same thing in my '99 Mitsubishi. Works great. No adapters need, other than the cassette deck adapter, of course.

I posted just the other day that I was quite disappointed when using one of them tape-adapter things.
Not so much the quality of the actual audio, but rather that I would get loud buzzing from RF Interference coming from the phone sent to the car speakers every couple of minutes when the phone was trying to communicate with the cell towers. That is a real bummer cuz I was using the phone as a regular MP3 player (using headphones and not that tape adapter) yesterday and it sounded perfectly fine. I hate having to have multiple gizmos for the same exact purpose.

I just disconnect the audio plug from my sattelite reciever, and plug it in there.
But some people dont have that capability for their head units..
I say just drag and drop onto a CD and solve the problem. I never liked exposed wires in my vehicles. More things to fiddle with, means more things to distract me from doing what I should be doing, which is DRIVING>>>

what car do you have and where do you plug your cable?

if you are using AV in plug of your car, then you will only get monoaural sound.

to get stereo sound you need to use your car's auxiliar input

Default Mp3

It was a long wait for A2DP but I am very satisfied with using a Motorola T605, and vehicle specific wiring harness connected to the head unit.

I don't like wires, so it is bluetooth a2dp from the 8100 to the vehicle sound system. Auto switches from mp3 to the t605 speakerphone for incoming calls. There is a flux capacitor thing attached to the wiring harness that is a critical component and supplied with the harness.

The sound is great but is dependent upon the properties of the mp3 file. Optimal quality is 128 kbps @ 44 hz for an 8100 according to RIM. A minimalistic mp3 file sounds a bit flat to me, but is okay for a podcast.

I can look up the supplier of the wiring harness if you are interested.

You need the latest OS for the 8100 in order to get A2DP.

This is the same thing I did and it works perfectly. Been using the Belkins II for a couple of years now.

I have a crappy Dual CD player and it had a 3.5mm jack and i used the standard Seidio converter is it worked fine other than the GSM buzz noise. Since the cd player plays mp3 cds I just stuck with that.

Is there anywhere else I can go to purchase the audio-out coupler, because the seidio website does not have it anymore? I saw the adapter, but not the coupler and the other websites say that they are out of stock and it has been like that for quite some time.

I bought a 2.5-3.5mm adapter from Best Buy when I had an 8100 and it worked great through the car stereo in my G8.

the audio-out coupler by seidio is no longer available. I will try the best buy adapter and see if that will work.
