Default Rogers gave me another three months unlimited data

Please Login to Remove!

I am not the first person to post on this but I want to send a reminder to all Rogers users on the "Unlimited Data" (i.e. 25 MB) plan that came with three months of truly unlimited data. Rogers reps are being free and easy about extending that for an extra three months. They obviously have authorisation to do so. Ask and you shall receive.

So, just to clarify...did you finish the 3 months and then call them or have you been off the truly unlimited for a while and then call them to reactive it? Please clarify.

Thanks.

Well I'm sure the Rogers Petition going around might have helped a little too

My unlimited data was to expire on May 3 and I just did it today, April 24. (I assumed that about one week in advance would be good and it worked out.) I do not know if they will reactivate it once it expires; I would not wait that long.

I certainly signed the petition. The Rogers rep had no news on planned changes to the plan although he did admit that the Treo comes with 100MB. I kind of feel sorry for the reps; it's not easy to have to explain such an inconsistent outrage.

My "Truly Unlimited" trial has expired long ago...I was just wondering if I should call and complain

I guess I'll wait and verify if I have exceeded the 25MB limit this month...if so I'll definitely be calling.

I signed it too and I work for Cingular.

Called Rogers' Customer Relations. The offer expired June 30 '06 (correction, not May ) The rep said he'd gladly put it on if it were on his terminal screen but switched me to a Data Dept rep anyway, who apologised that he couldn't do it either. Damn> I got my 8700 on July 7th.
I'm going to call back and b****. Even though I got my 8700 in the Rogers store in the Oshawa Centre, I tried to do it online first before the deal was pulled, but was told I wasn't eligible, as it's an upgrade and also a corporate account. Online purchasers can choose from several decent headsets. Will let you know if whining works.

Bummer. I'm also getting ready for data limits on August 3 - how fast 6 months pass! I certainly won't be surfing this site on my Blackberry using the Internet Browser anymore. (Not a fan of the WAP site either but fortunately I still have my work and home computers...)

Well, I'll be da..ed! A little making nice talk with a Rogers Customer Relations woman out in Alberta (she is a Newfoundlander she said which explains her friendliness), and I got a Motorola H500 n/c. Free shipping too! Here's hoping it pairs with the 8700r which is BT V 2.0, I believe. H500 is Bluetooth v1.2. From what I can make of the posts here and in the BT Forum, it should.
So, even though it's not one of the best-rated, the price is right.

After what happened on the 12 in calgary with a fibre cable being cut and having no service for like 4 hours I called in. And they threw in 3 months unlimited data.

They seems to be willing to bargain a bit if you get the right person at the right time.

I signed up for the Rogers Unlimited promo a couple months ago and my first bill had a data overage charge of $5 for exceeding 1 meg (that's ONE MEG!). My actual usage was for something like 1.09MB, so 90kb, or about 2 emails, cost me $5 (!). I called Rogers and after 20 mins on hold they reversed the charge but for all you Rogers customers on this plan you'd better keep a close eye on your bill or you'll get screwed as always... They tell you the reg $40/1Mb plan gives you something like 500-1000 emails a month, what a load of CRAP! I get very few emails to my BB account and hardly use it for www and I still went over. If the 2 remaining promo months don't go way down in terms of data usage I'll cancel the damn data plan. Rogers has no way to provide ongoing data use statistics so it's pretty much hold-your-breath-and-pray for each month's bill. Absurd business practice.

They charged me because whoever signed me up forgot to enter the fact that I was on the $40/Unltd promo plan and simply entered that I was on the $40/1Mb plan. Beware!

According to both of my corp reps that's considered a billing error. For some reason the soc for your freedom of speech or web/email was not put on the account or didn't register on the account. Errors like that are fixed quickly. In our office we had that happen once in the last 3 or 4 years and it happened to one of our regional reps.
