call your voicemail. turn volume all the way down. then press the right key on the side of the pearl (if camera is assigned to that key)
follow prompts (continue call and go to camera)
now take pics ninja style...
when done make sure to disconnect call.
I have seen variations where you plug in a
a set of headphones with that are cut off
but i'm not sure about that method.

and YES it is absolutley do-able

Just attach a wired headset or cut off end piece. Play an MP3 file and pause it. Then the sound will come thru the headset. If you want to conceal it more then cut off the cord.

Camera ninja? Just sneeze when you take the picture, no one will notice.

Yea, I don't get the need to turn the sound off. You can barely hear it. Please someone enlighten me, if there is an actual legitimate reason to turn this off.

Funny thing is that comments like this usually come from someone who doesn't.

Anyways, as far as why you would need it? I just find it obnoxious and if there was a solution I'd love to do it.

Wanted to send a picture of my three year old sleeping the other day to my wife. Couldn't.

I would like to turn the sound off as well, as it IS audible, and can be distracting to others in quiet environments. Plus every other device I have owned has always had an option of disabling cam sounds
