Default $40 for Global Support Pack??

Please Login to Remove!

I purchased my 8830 at a VZW store this morning.
I was planning to sign up for global email, but held off because they said the SIM card pack was an extra $39.99 on top of the device price...
Did anyone else have a similar experience?
I just assumed the SIM card was included with the damn phone...

I am on the phone with VZW right now to try to confirm if it is supposed to be included or not...

update: according to the vzw customer service rep, the global pack should be free if you sign up for a voice plan and global email...

I got my new 8830 through my business sales rep with Verizon and i didnt get a SIM card with it (nor did i ask for one), I ordered a 8830 for my CEO though and said he would be travelling and it came with a SIM card.

So i guess you have to specify if you want the SIM and im SURE it costs extra..

Also, the SIM is a serious PAIN IN THE *** to get in the phone..

The Global Support Pack, ie SIM card, Global Support calling card, Global Guide is free when purchasing the Global Voice/Data plan.

I have no problems installing the SIM cards, getting them back out is a whole different story...

When I talked to the rep tonight she said the SIM card is free if you are signing up for the global data plan.
It seems the people in the store were just unaccustomed to dealing with these sort of plans. So she said I should be able to go back and get the SIM for free if I sign up for the global email plan.
Gonna be a little while before I travel out of the country, so not a huge deal. No reason to pay the extra $20/month before I need to.
