Hi,
I just unlocked my phone, it was with Cigular/AT&T and then I put my sim card in to use it for Rogers. Then the message popped up saying "data connection refused." I just have a regular plan meaning no internet etc. however I would like to use my Blackberry just as a phone. Some one help, please!

For only phone use, you are fine. The message will be there, but your phone will work great.

that's what i thought too however i will dial a number and try to call it and then a message comes up saying that it cannot connect to that number. ive tried a bunch of numbers and still nothing... :(

Check under Phone Options -> Smart Dialing, if there's any inaccurate entry under Country Code, Area Code, National Number Length . . . make necessary changes for your region . . .

iSun, that option is not available on most 8700s, as most of them have never upgraded to OS 4.2, and are still on OS 4.1.

Not being able to dial numbers and getting the data connection refused message are two different problems. The data connection message is I am assuming because your account is not setup to support the BB data configuration needed. BB's have to be setup differently than normal phones for data.

I would call their support line about the not being able to dial out problem. Can you call the phone?
