Exclamation SIM Card Faulty - Pearl 8100 - OS 4.5.0.37 official

Please Login to Remove!

I'm from Germany and have bought the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 (T-Mobile unlocked) from USA.
Here I put the German T-Mobile card inside and load up the official OS 4.5.0.37 from vodafone.de

A few days ago my Pearl has malfunction and I can see on the display: SIM Card Faulty

I have to turn off the BlackBerry and restart, so it works again.

Do anybody has the same problems and know a solution process?

Thanks a lot!

More likely to to with 4.5 in conjunction with TMO

See the "Beta you then me" thread. I don't think you are alone on this issue.

There have been more than several reports of 4.5.0.37 killing SIM cards in T-Mobile devices.
Maybe you are experiencing the same unfortunate results?

Thank you for for the answers!

I'm woundering, because the OS 4.5.0.37 from vodafone.de is not a beta, but an official version.

It's the same version. Vodafone just released it and made it official. That's the only difference. I wouldn't use .37 on a TMobile device.

Hey buddy
I think it's like we suggested yesterday: it's the t-mo device itself...rather than the os.
He just ordered a new sim-card now it's defect again it's getting a little embaresing. he can't just bye a curve from ebay his sim is really destroyed right?

Wirelessly posted (Breaking Ball)

No, it's the toxic combination of the Tmo device + OS 4.5.0.37.

Use same devive, but put different OS on it and things should be OK with a new SIM card.

Use same OS with a non-Tmo device and thing should also be OK.

The current SIM card is now toast, and will need to be replaced either way.

1) I load up the OS 4.2.1.103 from T-Mobile Germany (because I using the German T-Mobile SIM card).
2) I load up the OS 4.2.1.107 from T-Mobile USA (becaus my T-Mobile Pearl is from USA).
3) I load up the OS 4.5.0.44 from BlackBerry (I know it's a beta, but the newest version).

What do you mean?

The OS 4.5.0.44 also doesn't work. So I will load up the OS 4.2.1.108.

Did you get a new SIM card? If not, get a new SIM card, but before you use it, put back 4.2 and ask yourself why Vodafone prematurely released a version that is known to destroy SIM cards.

It's still premature and bug filled.

Now I have the OS 4.2.1.107 from T-Mobile USA on my 8100 Pearl (T-Mobile USA) and also a new T-Mobile Germany SIM card inside.
But the SIM card faulty already comes!

What can I do?

Thanks!

Did you get a new SIM card, or are you still trying to use the same one that was destroyed?

You still need to get a new SIM card AFTER you put 4.2.1.107 back on your device.

To be fair, nearly every release in the 4.2x chain is bug filled as well. Maybe not as severe as this issue, but there are many bugs there nonetheless. I don't think it's fair to blame Vodafone entirely for that issue.
