I have just bought a used blackberry 9500 and there were some emails from feb and march still on the phone.

I have wiped the phone and there is no email address on the main screen over the message envelope. Will i still get emails from the previous account? I messaged the guy i bought it off but its an ebay buy and i havent heard anything back.

Welcome to the forums.

There's nothing you can do as the accounts are tied to the BlackBerry's PIN number. The previous owner needs to contact the carrier to remove his BIS account from the devices PIN number.

If the previous owner changed his BIS account to discontinue forwarding to your device, then no, you should not receive any more email. The stuff on there was probably before he/she would have done that.

If they did not discontinue forwarding, you may still get the old owner's email.

Try to set up a BIS account. If you can you're good to go. If it tells you that it's already associated then you'll need to contact the seller.

If you already have a BIS account, just use the CHANGE DEVICE option when you login. Enter the 9500's PIN and IMEI to tie this device to your account, then send Service Books.

Did you READ this thread? OP has a new device with a question on PREVIOUS OWNER'S email. OP does not have a BIS account yet.

Im getting a little worried now as i cant get hold of the guy i bought it off.
If i try to set up my email will it not allow me if he still has his account attached to the phone?
I am worrying now that it might be a little dodgy (probably unecessarily) but the fact that i cant get hold of the seller is making me think. When i try to set up my email (if he has removed his) would it allow me to do so if the phone was dodgy? Phone is working totaly okay otherwise, nothing to make me suspect it isnt legit.

Any advise much appreciated.

as takeshi said, try to set up a BIS account. If you can't then the seller hasn't released the PIN from his account, and unless yuo get hold of him, theres nothing you can do (i think).
If it does set up then he release his account, your account is now active and the emails you saw on the BB were old ones he didnt delete.
