I just got my Jawbone headset, paired it with my 8800, and tried it out. The static was terrible, and I had to hold my Blackberry very close to hear anything at all. I must be doing something wrong, but I have followed all the instructions to the letter. The forum shows much success pairing the 8800 with the Jawbone, so there must be a fix. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You don't state, but is this your first Bluetooth headset?
Bluetooth headsets can be victim to extraneous signal interference that creates static on the headset. Things like some wireless frequencies (WiFi, cordless phones, etc) can create a lot of signal noise.
But if you are finding you've got bad static all the time, regardless of where you are using the thing, I'm betting you've got a defective headset, a defective 8800 or both.
I'm using my 8800 with a Jawbone right now, and I've also used it with a Plantronics 655 for some time. Never had a static issue with the Jawbone, but I would get a lot of static when using the Plantronics at home....it would pick up interference from my WiFi router.
I have the exact problem (w/ 8830)and it's not due to lack of charge or distance. When I pair the same Jawbone with a 8703e, same thing. RAZR of a friend, same thing. So I assume it's a design flaw, my stubble, or defective. -Pk
Update on my situation - hopefully this helps others. After trying other people's Jawbones, and then trying a Motorola HS850, I still had the same problem. One of the Cingular reps said the 8800 was not compatible with the Jawbone. I got a warranty replacement of my 8800, and things work like a charm now, and there is no static.
