Default Erratic Signal 8703e

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone else (particularly in the Los Angeles Area) had an issue where the 8703e switches between 1X and 1XEVDO fairly frequently? Los Angeles is a full EVDO coverage area so I find this to be strange...

VZW is sending me a new unit tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else was possibly experiencing this.

If not, I am not sure what to do about it..

You just ruined my night, because after going through another 5 swap devices for my bad 7130e's, I made verizon give me an 8703E for free, but now when it gets here tomorrow or friday you are telling me that it will perform the same....CINGULAR, HERE I COME!

I'm not sure I am as excited as you are about it though... I want EVDO all the time! Any other 8703e people out there with this problem?

got my replacement today... same problem... verizon is sending a ticket to check on the network switch.. they think it is my local repeater/tower since it seems to happen only when I am in one region of Los Angeles (Marina Del Rey/Westchester area). Anyone in LA with a similar issue?

not quite as bad in CT but i have seen a little switching back and forth. Even if it is a problem, which i am not sure it is yet, i am sure a firmware patch will hit us soon enough...

sorry, but that won't be the problem...It seems to be a DEVICE compatibility issue with the network. the 7250, which was made for 1X, not EVDO functions perfectly, however the 7130e and 8703e (made for EVDO) don't...They all use the same qualcomm chip. Once the 7250 was upgraded to EVDO we began hearing reports of similar signal issues...

The 7250 seems to jump out of EV when it is idle for a while. Sometimes it goes back in if you use the browser, sometimes you need to turn off/on the wireless. When it reconnects to the network it goes back into EV........unless you get the dreaded data connection refused!
I'm in Boston.

You guys need to switch to t-mobile. All I hear is problems with verizon and cingularm my service "edge" is awsome and always has full bars. Oh did I mention that it's also $45 cheaper a month that's right only 19.99 for unlimited bb service. My 8700g rocks.

It all depends on your location. I've had the 7130 and now 8703 and coverage is excellent near Phila. Never drop a call and in most places 1XEV

You're telling us that you don't see any signal fluctuation?

When I had a 7130e I would constantly lose EVDO. It was really annoying, especially for what they are charging for unlimited data. I made the switch to T-Mobile and couldn't be happier.
