Default 8700 in BMW

Please Login to Remove!

I recently purchased a 2007 BMW which is bluetooth enabled. The BMWsite states that I need software version SW V4.1.0.194. Does anyone know where I get this. My 8700 has V4.1.0.194, is SW an update? My bluetooth works for placing calles, but the address book will not transfer. Any help wouldbe appreciated. Thanks, Walter

Your car can talk to your BB? Sweet. My car communicates by smell. ;)

So, they are saying you need to update your BB software version to the same version that isn't working completely with your car? Hmm...sensible!

Well, are you using T-Mobile or Cingular? Which '07 do you have? I'd like to know if you get it going with your car. I have an '07 Coupe and I have not yet tried an 8700g in my car. I have been using my HTC TyTN. That device seems to transfer everything into the radio and I can scroll through and dial but if I use the car's voice command there is an announcement that there is no phonebook present. Weird!

I think they are just using SW for short meaning (software) it is what you have. My understanding from some of the threads I read (I am not a techie) is that with the 8700 using Blue Tooth you cannot transfer any address book information. I use an 8700 R and it just does not want to transfer any contacts to any other Blue Tooth device. Although the manual says it should be possible everything I read indicates that will not work.

Hope this helps but dont take it as 100% truth since I am not 100% sure.

Try doing a search of this forum, it will give you some information regarding BMWs and BB. I plugged in the letters BMW and got this, which may help you- read thru the forum, lots of info here.

Search gave me this:

Good luck and sorry I could not answer your question specifically. At least you are headed in the right direction. Search = Friend.

My 8700c address book transfers via bluetooth without any problems on my 2007 530i, so I'm not sure why you have been unable to do so.

The .194 OS is really old, I'd just get the newest version from your carrier. Look here.

I've used an 8700g with no problems in my 2006 E90. Having the right software version on the BB is the key.

Now my new 8707v from Vodafone is another matter. I think that there's an unresolved bug in the code.

Cheers.

It is a 2007 328i. My phone paired fine, I am having trouble getting my addresses from my BB to the car. My brother-in-law has an 07 335i, and has the pearl, and the addresses transfered fine from the first time he used it??

How do I get a newer version of the software? I contacted Cingular, and they had no idea what I was talking about? What are the differences between the older software I have, and the newest? Sorry,I am new to this..

I am also looking at buying the 328xi(2007), but cannot get the address book to download. The dealership has indicated that the contacts must be stored on the SIM card. However, I have not been able to download mine into the car. I am using a 7290 v4.0.2.56. Any help would be appreciated.

The dealer is, as is too often the case, wrong.

Try downloading the latest v4.1.x.x code for your phone.

Cheers

I have a 2006 325i and by 8703e paired perfectly. It brought in my entire set of contacts and all are available for dialing. Further, the caller ID actually works so I can see who is calling without issue.

I did just have a "software update" on my car and so that is always worth checking on in terms of the BMW bluetooth implementation.

Finally, I cannot believe the difference in the quality of the bluetooth between the 8703 and my Treo 700P which I officially dumped a month ago with absolutely no regrets! I think my 17 year old daughter is the only kid in her high school with a Treo!

I have a 2007 525i, and after the device is paired (via Idrive) you need to go onto the OPTIONS, BLUETOOTH, Paried Devices, CLICK BLUETOOTH OPTIONS, Address Book Transfer, and change option to ALL ENTRIES.

I had the same problem when I got my 2007... it worked fine in my 06 330i and my X3.

Cheers!

I have a 2004 Z4 with Bluetooth and std buisness radio (Radio/single disk CD). My 8700c paired great and the system works great. My contact list and phone numbers uploaded no problem. However, here is my problem... Like many, I often have 3 numbers for each of my contacts in my BB, Home #, Business # and Mobile # ..... it appears that the bluetooth ULF in the car only uploads one number for each contact...normally the first one which I think is the Home # for each contact.....

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to get it to upload all of the numbers?

help...
