Default Verizon 8830 Leather Holster

Please Login to Remove!

The design of the standard equipment leather holster that came with the Verizon 8830 is not a good one, in my opinion (from a durability point of view). One week after my purchase, my BB fell off of my belt into the grass. I had assumed that the clip slid off. Upon closer examination I found the clip still clipped to my belt and the rest of the case on the ground. Apparently the swivel part of the case is permanently affixed to the case and is attached to the clip with a cheap plastic part that is only two or three millimeters wide. It really doesn't seem like it will hold up at all (and in my case it only lasted a week). The Verizon store gave me another one that they had in back--it was part of a return. But my question is this, "Has anyone else epxerienced this problem, and is RIM aware of it?"

Thanks.

Had mine since end of May and no issues with case. Yours may have been defective. Considering these things are stamped out like Beer Cans once in a while you will get a lemon.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830: BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Chalk it off a bad holster and enjoy your device.

Default broken holster

Mine broke after 3 months. Fortunately, only one of the plastic rivets snapped off.

I bought a real leather one and hope it last longer.

The rim logo plate on the front of mine has recently fallen off. I took it to the verizon store and they told me to contact RIM. I contacted RIM and they just sent me a email telling me that it is the sellers responsibility for all warranty items. You gotta love that customer service.

Default Best Advice for carrying your 8830

For under $50 you can get a hard rubberized case and rubberized holster from Seidio. I have it, drop the phone several times, great protection, great holster, ease of use, etc.

Pouch it came with now holds sons fake cell phone!!!

Default case

I've had my case for 4 months with no issues, not even sure it is leather, Verizon describes it as KOSKIN, what is that, FAKE LEATHER? Never heard of a critter called Koskin!!

mine is fine so far (couple of weeks) the rubberized hard use holster looks neat but does anyone have a pic of the front of the 8830 with it on?

RIM doesn't normally deal with end users.

I ain't never had a defective beer can yet...don't be knocking beer cans, their quality control is far higher than cellular accessories.

It looks pretty cool; I just wish someone would make a good case that doesn't cover up the speaker port, which wouldn't muffle the ringer volume so much.

The speaker ports are on the top of the BB. The Seidio cases have cutouts for the speaker ports.

Thanks for the Seidio tip! I know that the speaker port(s) is/are on the top of the BB, I was just saying that I haven't yet seen a case that has cutouts (the operative word here) for the ports.

I'm going to search for these cases right now!
