Default "edge" with full signal?

Please Login to Remove!

I've had the lowercase "edge" for the past 25 minutes, but my signal is 5/5 bars.

What gives?

it happens....almost always on the carrier end. Try turning your wireless off and back on.

Signal level and whether or not you get EDGE aren't necessarily linked. Issues with your carrier's data network or RIM's infrastructure can cause this (totally independent of network signal strength). However, as justin.culp mentions, sometimes the Blackberry doesn't recover properly. Usually, toggling wireless will get it back on EDGE if the problem isn't further upstream.

I was told by a T Mobile, BB service person it is best to turn the wireless radio on and off everymorning if you are an individual who leaves their phone on 24/7. He said this will make sure all services are kept up to date blah blah blah. Technical jargon I dont know. YMMV- just what I was told by the guru.

actually, TMO data support told me the same thing for all my other phones. they told me to re-cycle the power at least once a day to "pick up the correct signal".

if you are in lowercase edge you probably won't get any emails, either - another good reason to ensure you refresh your connection. A quick reboot (Alt + Cap + Del) will achieve the same thing.
