Default RIM AIM on Sprint - Buddy list problem

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8830 on Sprint and I just downloaded AIM from RIM.

When I sign on it only has about 30 of my buddies in my buddy list. Anyone else have this problem? It did the same thing on my 7130e, but i figured I was getting the 8830 and would worry about it then...Does it only allow 30 buddies?

That is how the program works as of today, it only lets 30 on your list. Your better off going with beejive :: JiveTalk mobile messaging

Default How odd..

Why would RIM limit it to 30 buddies? And not even let me choose which 30? Is everyone having this toruble with AIM?

Oh, and I'm on Sprint...not sure if I said that earlier...

RIM's AIM client only holds up to 30 buddies on Sprint. You are better off to get beejive's jive talk if you want more than 30 buddies on aim.

I thought the limit of 30 was set by all of AIM's Mobile Clients, not just RIM's.

Question What The Frak?!?

WTF?!? RIM's AIM client is available?!?!?

Well, then, how come I didn't see it when I logged onto the BlackBerry Help website from my this weekend?!?!?

WTF is this crap?!?!? Is this thing ONLY available to Sprint users? 'Cause if so, I'm going to have to write a VERY stern letter to RIM about them snubbing T-Mobile users!!!!

Because I couldn't find the official RIM AIM client that was announced something like 2 YEARS ago (and which SHOULD have been released a year or more ago, at the same time as the RIM Yahoo IM client), I ended up d/ling and trying Ramble. Needless to say, I am NOT happy with Ramble (I can't stand how it constantly logs me out every few minutes), but I'm also not about to PAY for the privilege of having AIM on my BB!

PS: If you have more than 30 people in your Buddy List, you're maintaining WAY too many contacts in there! Clean that junk out!!!

--JTC (who only uses AIM to talk to his really GOOD friends, which keeps the number of Buddies to WAY under 30! )

Can we keep the WTF's to a minimum please?

And, you really do get what you pay for.

In the case of AIM and Yahoo IM, you shouldn't have to pay AT ALL, though! On the PC, you can d/l the official AOL and Yahoo clients FOR FREE, on the Sidekick you get both (and now also MSN) as official clients developed with assistance from AOL and Yahoo, and they're FREE! RIM's YIM client is also FREE, and it works flawlessly for me (on the rare occasion that I use it. Hardly any of my friends still use YIM anymore, and the few that do use it so rarely that I don't even bother logging on anymore.)

So, again, you shouldn't HAVE to pay for your AIM client! That's just LUDICROUS!!!

Jack, do me a favor and just try JiveTalk and post back your results. You will be happier than waiting for this free nonsense to finally work.

john's right. jivetalk is worth it. just try it...
but about the official aim/msn by rim, i read on a different thread they came preloaded on the 8320 from t-mobile...so maybe this could mean that when the 8320 is offically released a week from tomorrow, all of us on t-mobile will be able to use them. but then again, who knows?

Those are likely for OS 4.3. I haven't heard whether those new IM clients will work on the older OS's. Hopefully it won't be long until the new OS's are available for the older devices and we can give it a try. JiveTalk is still king though, since it's only one app that logs into all the services at once.

4.3 will *likely* roll out for all the devices currently on 4.2. No idea for sure or when though.
