And also, can I load it over 307 directly as a normal upgrade way or must wipe device first to jump to 5.0?

Thanks

If you are going to load through DM, I would use 5.0 DM which is easily accessible. Another option is to bypass DM and click on APP loader folder in your PC. I would delete any other OS variants in your PC and when I reach the actual loading to my device, I would shut off the internet connection on my PC

Just make sure that you really want to upgrade. There is a risk, though slight, of making a brick, and also of having things not work as you want them to work. the forums are full of such problems.

My advice is always if the device works for you and does what you need it to do, then it must not be broke and therefore doesn't need to be fixed.

I agree with you. Unfortunately, I am guilty of taking the risk and upgrading even when things are functioning properly.

R u talking about this folder here?

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

Also, why shut off internet connection? I never did that when updating my phone via DM.....is this something that I must always do?

Thank you for your input?

Well, the phone works great.....I want to upgrade just cuz I see OS 5.0 beta floating around and lots of people are using it and some say positive comments and some negative......

I dont use any apps on my phone other than ESPN mobile to check the scores lol

Also I have the weather icon and the score mobile.....other than that, nothing else.....

So, is it worth it to take the risk or no? lol

And by the way, I have Bold 9700 but have not used it yet.....I was thinking to upgrade the 9000 to 5.0 and give it to the wife and then I can use the 9700....

I am using what you see in my profile. A 9000 user would provide you with more valuable input.

My 9000 works great running 4.6. It isn't broken and I am not about to fix it using OS 5.0. Maybe when I replace it, I might tinker a bit.

I installed 5.0.0.411 on my 9000 and love it. I didn't even have to use any DM to install it. I used the AppLoader and it worked great. I wiped my device with BBSAK before I did the install..

The only thing I had to mess with after the upgrade was installing the Visual Voice Mail application. Search around for the threads on how to do that..
