Default Microphone on 7100g

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone else had complaints from people who they call, saying that it's hard to hear? People have told me that it sounds like I'm underwater sometimes. Actually, where exactly is the microphone on the phone?

I know it's not the specific phone I have, I just exchanged it for a new one and still the same issue.

Give the board a search and you should find its been a long known issue with the 7100 series but seems to be more so with the 7100t/r/g then the v or x model...

I had the same experience, I think scrolling the scroll bar for the speaker lower will help a little. The thing is I was to be able to change the volume of the speaker differently than the mic cuz i think it makes the mic get disorted especially in loud areas.

You mean, turn down the volume in your ear to help with the sound problems occurring on the other end?

I have had this complaint a couple of times on speakerphone. I have turned the volume down on the trackwheel and they say that it is better.

OH, on speakerphone. I'm under the impression that the majority of mine and the other users' problems are on "regular phone", not speakerphone.

That helps(turning down the volume) only thing is that then I can't hear them if I am in a loud area. Anyway to have separate controllers on the ear and mic?

I just ordered the Audiovox 5600 and returned the 7100, hopefully that mic is better.

My brother's got that phone and loves it. I want my GD BB to work, though...

I can barely hear other people - especially when I use a headset in the car. Is there a specific headset that works better? Any chance of this problem being fixed from an upgrade standpoint?

I've been told by RIM that this issue is fixed in the latest software. Now if Cingular would just get off their *ss and certify the new code, I could have a usable phone... I think T-mobile folks already have the new code on the 7100t, perhaps they can confirm the fix?

Just to be clear, avmike, the issue where people you talk to say it sounds like you're in a wind tunnel/auction house, and your words are staticky/garbled if you have any kind of background noise (car, gym, sports bar)?

I want to be clear on this because if it looks like it's going to be fixed in a reasonable amount of time, then I'll hold out.

Thanks!

The only problem I see is if the speaker volume is inreased and the mic increases at the same time. Which might create distortion on the mic because they are controlled from the same thing(wheel)??

Ahh, good thinking. I'll see if turning it way down improves the sound of my voice on the other end.

Only thing is when you turn it down, you can't hear your caller. Especially if you are in a strip bar or some fine establishment like that. That is what I have noticed.

I just returned mine today. Getting the Audiovox 5600 and if I dont like that one, I'll wait for the Moto Q. I doubt I will ever get a blackberry phone again. Like, what good is it if the phone doesn't work??? Must be smoking some good crack or something. Plus the web browser sucks too. Not all pages come up. The ringer is delayed by 1 or 2 rings for some reason. I noticed it will vibrate twice then ring???? That was another problem I noticed. Not like I care that much about the ringer cuz I always have it on vibrate but sometimes I have the ringer on and then I gotta rush to get it cuz it's on the 3 rd ring. Must be their crap ass software or something. And I thought Billy Gates sucked the big one. All I know is my old Nokia sounded great anywhere. Job number 1, work as a phone.

Anyway, I normally don't ***** like this but the mic thing is really irritating.
