Default Petit mal (small seizure) on the 8700

Please Login to Remove!

When I'm using my 8700 it will ocassionally just freeze for about 5-10 seconds and then resume just where it left off. 8700 (cingular)

I experience this consistently within about 5 minutes of use.

This happens on a frequent basis, and I've noticed that lets say Im typing something and then all the sudden the upload arrow shows and then the download arrow and then it freezes for about 5-10 seconds and then resumes right where I left off.

Oh yeah when it comes back to life the ribbon re-organizes, they all move around and when it's done they are in the proper positions they should be in (although they started in the right positions)

Most of the keys I pressed while it was frozen get buffered and type out when it resumes.

It seems like there is some intermittent communication (with the bes?) that does some synch of something and it pauses during this time.

Its almost like BES synchs the ribbon position file every 5 minutes and the unit freezes up during this time for 5-10 seconds.

I believe that this happened as well on my other blackberry 7230 (tmobile)

Everyone else on the BES isn't having this problem

I wiped the handheld but there is no change in behavior

Anyone seen this or any ideas of things to turn off to troubleshoot this?

Default Solved the BBY seizure problem

Thanks for the links. The problem was tracked down the BBY was pushing policy every 3-5 minutes although the BES was set to push policy once a day.

All of the other BBYs worked okay but on this one there was an old service that was a service book left over from an earilier BES version which was configured incorrectly and creating hyper policy updating. you could delete the service book but it was somehow cached in the BES and every time it was deleted it would synch back up and restore it.

The solution was to wipe the BBY and delete the account from the BES server. This would stop the replication of the rogue service book.

The account was then re-rcreated on the BES and the BBY was synched.

Apparently this is not uncommon on BBYs that were on a previous BES version and then taken to a new BES (employee owns his own BBY and changes jobs)

Thanks you for your help!!

Wirelessly posted (7105t w/4.1: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I've been having the same problem, but only in the past couple of days. There's another thread regarding someone who upgraded to Bahrti, but I did that a couple of weeks ago without a hitch. I'd surely have noticed.

I also am seeing the hyper-updating, so I guess I'll have to call mailstreet to get my servicebooks cleared out.

Thanks for the links.
