Hello. I don't think I've posted yet, but I was wondering why the SureType isn't working. I assumed that "matching" words would prevent me from having to type out entire words. I've searched the help file, the manuals and the forums that I've found. I'm just curious as to why there's no shortcutting when writing email, for example.

If you open a new email, you can enable Suretype from the menu.

You may be confusing Suretype, which figures out what word you are typing - it does NOT complete it - with T9 predictive texting.

As stated earlier, SureType will not complete the words for you while you type. If it's shortcuts you're looking for while composing emails, you may want to read up on the BB's AutoText feature. Since you didn't mention AutoText, I will assume you weren't familiar with it. AutoText lets you use shortcuts for words, phrases, or even multiple lines of text. AutoText is also helpful in correcting typos. For instance, when you type "teh" it will correct it by replacing "teh" with "the". You can also have it replace shortcuts like "btw" with "between" or "tmw" with "tomorrow. AutoText can be very useful in helping you composing emails - and it can be customized to your liking.

AutoText is great! I have an entire signature block for my work emails that includes name, company, full street address, email address and contact numbers, that gets inserted when I type zz followed by a space. Love it!

I will be creating my glossary of words over the next couple of days.

When I bought the phone two weeks ago, the salesman said that there was a dictionary with a humungous capacity to remember words you type regularly - I assumed he meant SureType. But now that I know which direction to go in, I'll be just fine.

I have the BB 7100i and I'm looking for shortcuts to type in memos. I hate going to symbols to put in the / in my dates. Is there a quick way to type "11/9-4 hours" (without the quotes) without having to pull up symbols and scroll over to the / and the - ??? I tried AutoText and assigned / to zz but it doesn't work.
