Default 7105T Troubleshooting in Europe

Please Login to Remove!

Sent my dad and brother to Europe with brand new 7290 and 7105T models. 7290 works fine for data and voice, 7105T will not lose the searching for network message. Any ideas on what I can tell him to try? He appears to have no clue how to do anything with troubleshooting on his own and my patience has worn thin on day one...Thanks.

Did you ask him to do manual network search? Is the SIM card from the 7290 working in the 7105t? Maybe international roaming is not activated on the SIM card?

A few things to try:

1. Set the NETWORK to MANUAL and have him search for the closet network

2. Yank the battery and reset it back after about 30 seconds - this will have the 7105T do a hard search for a local carrier.

The 7105T definately works all throughout Europe - I know because I carried my all throughout Europe with no issues. Make sure your SIM card has international dialing setup with your carrier.

I hope this helps!

It is working, albeit after 8, yes 8, calls to Tmo and over 2 hours in calls to Switzerland on our nickel to conference him in. In a nutshell, he was trying to manual network search, where the 7290 was working fine with Swisscom, and the 7105T would not connect to any network, including Swisscom. I suspect it was a setup issue with either RIM or Tmo, as when they "fixed it", we were able to get connected, he received 4 emails that were probably queued before he left the US and then nothing for multiple hours.

Overnight Saturday, it lost all capability, again. Had to go through the whole process again on Sunday morning, and I was less than pleased. It is working, had a really long lag with email delivery for the first 6-10 hours, but it seems to be fine now. Thanks for your support guys, it was a bumpy and expensive to me solution to get it working.
