For some reason, no matter who I SMS, when I open a received text message, the "cursor" I guess is positioned HALF WAY UP the conversation, meaning every single time I get a new text, I have to scroll/flick all the way down to the bottom of the conversation just to see what was said.

Is there any way to fix this? It's not a huge deal but it's VERY annoying and very unintuitive.

This is a bug that has been around quite some time. If you hit "r" it should take you to the reply box.
