if you have desktop manager installed on your PC at work, u can just plug in and generate a key that will get you back on the BES automatically
otherwise you will have to call your IT dept for a temp pass so you can activate wirelessly

If your device is not activated (as is the case after an upgrade), and you plug it into your computer that is connected to your company's network either directly or through VPN and open DM, it will automatically kick off the activation process.

If your IT department has blocked SMS, there is no way to re-enable it except by asking them. Trying to circumvent their policies could result in disciplinary action being taken against you, up to and including termination. I strongly recommend getting your own personal phone if you wish to use services that are blocked by your company.

alot of BES admins block SMS because it costs more as it uses voice rather than data... get a data messenger such as WLM, yahoo, aim or jivetalk(all together)

its an it policy that gets sent to all devices activated to the BES... if you upgrade your device... sometimes its gone... but as soon as you activate tot he BES... you gte it back again.

goto options- security options- General Settings
scroll to near the bottom
you will see your IT policy name

I doubt it. Your company has blocked it for a reason, and you shouldn't attempt to circumvent their policy. If you really need to send an SMS to someone, use your e-mail, and address the message to the e-mail address of their phone (usually in the form of [email address]). They should be able to reply.

DM kicks off EA (no "key required") assuming you are connected to your corporate network (either directly or through a VPN).

no it creates a key, by default its automatic... asks you to move your mouse around for about 30 seconds... thats EA creating a random key to communicate the EA

No, I've never had to do that.
I upgrade a lot of BlackBerrys; I have never had to create a new key unless it is the first time I am using DM on a new PC/laptop.
