The BlackBerry Messenger on 8120 (if that is the correct model, was a set of smiley faces not the blue icons in 4.6 or higher)

Thanks Kamau, you got it, it's my son's phone and he had downloaded crunch SMS and not told me, they have disappeared now. Thanks everyone for their help.
