Default Cannot set enterprise activation password on running users

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

after the upgrade from BES for Domino 4.1.4.x to 4.1.6.39 with a remote SQL server, i cannot set an enterprise activation password on running users.

It can be done on new users, but when a existing user gets a new handheld....i cannot give him a new password anymore.

Is this a known problem?

OS: Windows 2003 R2 SP2
Platform: Domino 7.0.3

I've never heard of this issue.

What happens when you try and set the EA password?

1. Is the option greyed out? If so, how are you getting to the "set password" option (i.e. right-clicking user or via Service Access > Set Activation Password

2. Are you using BlackBerry Manager ON the BES, or a remote installation of?

Hello,

sorry for the late reply....problem is still there.

We are using thw manager remote and local just for testing.
Both situations have the same result: no EA password set after setting it.

Its not grayed out, you can set it....but nothing happens on the status field.
Normally you can see if you have set the EA password: running - Activation password set.... But in our case....its stays "running".
And when the users tries to activate its handheld you can see in the log: "password empty" error.

Thats the problem we have.

We have the same symptom: When a user is freshly created and you set the activation password, the status changes from "Initializing" to "Initializing - Activation password set".

When the user already exists, the status stays "Running" when we set the activation password. Nevertheless the Activation works for us, so it is rather a cosmetic problem for us. When I need to check if the activation password is set, then I go to the dialog window again. If there are "****" in the password field, I know it is set, if the password field is empty, I know that it is not set.

How long have you set the timeout, the standard 48 hours?

i don't even know if it's a "problem" per se. i just dont think it's a built in function to tell you that the ea password is set when they are in running status. i've never seen it say this since i've been managing bes pre 4.0.

if you actually see/saw running -activation password set i'd love to see a screenshot. also like freakinvibe says, what are you setting the password timeout to?

As radhaz says I believe what you are seeing is by design, I have never seen anything different. But the fact that it's only affecting existing users and you made a server change says perms to me, but we are an Exchange shop so I could be very wrong. I would be looking at what is different on the mailserver side between the old and new users. Could also be db corruption I suppose. Try re-syncing the db (on the BES as besadmin). Change the db in db config from what it is, to what it is (RIM assure me that re-syncs ).
