My Son is having trouble getting his 8520 to work in Australia we have tried registering it with the network, pulling batteries and also got Vodafone to send service books (these havent arrived though) any one got any ideas please? thanks

You won't be able to "go on the internet" without an active BlackBerry Data Plan including the Service Books.

Contact the service provider.

Right, but you stated that don't have the Service Books, so you need to contact the service provider.

The biggest problem is that your service provider is Vodafone. Their coverage for 3G in Australia is bad!! You are more then likley running a EDGE or GSM withr vodafone blackberry internet won't work. You need to see Telstra or Optus as they supply internet for 3G, EDGE and GSM for any model of blackberry

Thanks for all your help service books have been sent by vodafone but not reached the phone so guess its bad coverage thats causing the trouble....

Looking at your profile, your carrier says O2... Is your son is from UK too? maybe needs international roaming activated if he is from vodafone UK on his Blackberry sim?
