I have a 7250 with a small CDMA company named Cellular South. I understand that I COULD use BlackBerryModem IF Celsouth had not disabled the Modem in the Blackberry. If I downloaded the newest firmware for the BB from Verizon and installed it, would that re-enable the internal modem? Would the phone even work with Celsouth if it had Verizon's firmware in it?
Is there an easier way to enable the BBs modem?

It is probably easier to just use SharkModem from MobiShark Online Blackberry Store: Home of Shark Modem -- and maybe use a BES hosting service.

Also, just tested 4.2 with my 7105t. Went off without any hitch. 4.2 has some additional functionality (support for multiple devices and media manager)

This actually refers to desktop software version 4.2, handheld software 4.2 does not appear to be released by anybody. Although I could be wrong.

I am fairly new to the BB world, when I perform a software update on my 8700 will it overwrite my corporate settings that have been configured by IT, or will this and my other data/programs be fine ? I don't want to try to upgrade only to find that I have a BB that does not work with our enterprise server....
thanks

Before you start your desktop manager and update be sure you are connected to your email server, i.e. VPN, direct network connection, whatever you would to connect. Then start your upgrade. Be sure and check the box for it to backup your data. It will take about 30-45 minutes. At one point after the unit has been erased and reloaded with the new software you will have the spinning hourglass for about 10-15 minutes...don't disconnect! Just let it go. When it's finally done leave it connected for a few minutes longer and the "Enterprise Activation" should start on it's own. If not, and you can't send mail from your BES account, try connecting it again to the Desktop Manager and regenerate the encryption keys. If that doesn't work, just call your IT department and they can set up a password for you to put in and activate it that way. If you are connected properly before you start the update it should activate automatically after the update. Works great. You can always disregard all that and just ask your IT guy to set up a password anyway.
Edit: Hint: delete all phone logs by going to your mail page, selecting view folder, phone call logs, highlight the date and click "delete prior". Those phone logs can really bog down Enterprise Activation if there are a bunch!

[QUOTE=Mark Rejhon]BlackBerryOS 4.x Download FAQ
This is because you will need to delete or rename the VENDOR.XML file located at:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\VENDOR.XML
First, install BlackBerry OS 4.x but do not run BlackBerry Desktop. Next, delete or rename the VENDOR.XML. Finally, run desktop manager to install
Hi Mark,
I have a bb 6210 and would like to upgrade the OS to 4.0 what do you mean by you have to delete or rename the vendors.xml?
many thanks

Don't forget to read the post date -- I wrote that in 2005. This thread has multiple pages.
The instructions to delete the vendor.xml file is in the first post.

BB OS Software 4.0
[QUOTE=Mark Rejhon]BlackBerryOS 4.x Download FAQ
Hi Mark,
I tried tonight to upgrade to 4.0 for BB 6210 the pc prompted an error msg that read " Syntax Error in 1 line of XML "even though i deleted the vendors XML...
any suggestions?
thsnks
carlogero
I Installed 4.x OS from another carrier. It doesn't work!
Finally, run desktop manager to install.

7290 Software Question - can't find answer.......
Hi Guys
I currently have 4.1.0.351 (platform 1.8.0.149) software installed on my Blackberry 7290 provided by T-mobile UK and everything is grand, however the previous software that I had, had an option under network to turn off data connection (under options, network) which was very handy for either when your roaming, or like me to leave the phone switched on over night but not receive emails).
Does anybody know which version this is on, I have a feeling it was CSL (Hong Kong). I need to leave the phone on and receive text messages throughout the night, but not receive messages.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Joe
