Default Quick Lock Question on 8830 WE

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a key command to lock the keyboard? It a pain in the arse to get to main menu with all icons and select lock. I am using my convenience key to access my ring profiles. Let me know if there is a key command to change ring profiles and I'll switch the functionally.

Make cents?

As always, let me know.

Thanks
SGM-co

Yes, but you have to turn off the Dial from Home Screen function.

Click on the Phone (call log) icon, then go into Options -> General Options. Set Dial From Home Screen to 'No', and save.

Now you can press the K key to lock the keyboard.

I got that. But I still have to head back to the main menu, correct? My main view is of the 5 icons on the bottom of the screen. When I am on that view it asks if I want to assign a speed dial to the "k" key.

As long as Dial From Home Screen is set to No, you can use the K key...but don't hold it very long - just a quick tap - as if you're just typing the letter K in a message.

Instead of doing that, you can hold down the mute button on top and it locks the keys. It'll still accept calls, email, and everything else. If you want to unlock it for anything else, just tap the mute button again.

This doesn't lock the the phone from people using it, it just locks the keys so you don't dial someone or open apps while it's in your pocket.

Dude, THANK YOU!!!

If I have one gripe about this phone, it's the manual that came with it. Mine isn't so much a manual as it is a written scavenger hunt; it's like... "hey, try hitting a bunch of buttons and the phone will do cool stuff. HAVE FUN!!" Freaking useless, lol.

The manual is on the CD and is likely over 100 pages (of course nobody ever reads it.) What comes in the box is a quick start guide.
