Default Need Help-getting new BB

Please Login to Remove!

Just need a little hand holding...I currently have a Pearl but I'm getting a Curve tomorrow. I know that I need to connect to desktop manager and use switch devices to transfer my stuff but will that transfer my email settings too? Or do I set that up separately?

I guess I just need the step by step directions...

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks

First of all, make sure your carrier properly provisions the new device. Also make sure that you have a good and current backup of the old device, just in case.

For email, as long as you are using BIS for email, log into your BIS account, go to Settings and Change Device, enter the new PIN and IMEI or ESN, send service books and you should be good to go.

Well, to follow up, I made a visit to the Verizon store on Sunday and the rep told me that the Pearl and the Curve were basically the same phone (that the pearl could do everything the curve could do). She shrugged her shoulders as if to say "why bother trading up". So I left the store feeling rather deflated. Anyone have any thoughts on this one way or the other?

there are a number of threads comparing the curve and pearl. here are a couple:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-vs-pearl.html

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...reen-size.html

seems like the curve and pearl come down to personal preferences. i don't mind a slightly bigger phone, because it gives me a much bigger screen and also full QWERTY.

i guess it was nice of the verizon lady to inform you of the similarities, but personally i think that was a dumb business move. you've got a customer walking in wanting a curve, and you tell them they don't need it and watch them walk away empty handed? the way the economy is right now, you think they'd be all over selling you a new phone....apparently they aren't paid on a commission basis!
